((anyone is welcome to join!! I'd love to meet some of the other players here :) ))
Dale use a person who was very used to what nature could throw at her. She knew how to survive sandstorms. She knew how to avoid rock slides. She knew how to free climb up and down cliff faces. She was prepared for pretty much any survival situation, whether it be at a frozen mountain top or in a sandy basin at high noon. However, Dale, for all her knowledge and survival prowess, found herself cursing and struggling every step of the way through the sticky mud of the swamplands she had managed to find herself in.
After receiving her starter from the Professor, Dale had travelled back to Silverfern in order to gather herself and plan out her next trip into the wilderness. The mountains had tempted her, but she decided to go south in order to explore some new landscapes. So she set off for Coventina Port. Travel through the desert was easy, and familiar, so Dale felt like taking on the swamplands, Grasslands, and forest that lay before her would be simple.
Restocked and rearing to go, she set off. Dale was then met with utter misery. The swamplands were mostly uninhabited, and densely overgrown. A sinister air of mystery, and an unfamiliar cloak of darkness over the area. The sun Dale was so used to, the blinding warmth that would beat down on her back, was blocked out by the foreboding branches above. Mud stuck to her boots and water wormed its way through to her socks as she trudged on.
"Maybe I should just turn back..." she mumbled, stopping to look around. Her sense of direction was somewhat crippled by the density of her surroundings, and that made her nervous. Climbing a tree later in the evening, when the stars were out would help her get her bearings, but for now her steps were uncertain, but unfaltering as well. For all her complaints, she was not one to back down from a challenge.
Dale's ears picked up the sounds of breaking branches from a distance, and her hand went to her belt, wary of a wild Pokemon jumping out at her.
"Someone there?" she called, making her way towards the sound.
((gosh I hope I'm doing this right lol! :) ))

(Hope you don't mind if I join. ^^ Ignus' an explorer after all.)
Ignus was just walking around, admiring the swamplands from good vantage points thanks to his Hydreigor Marcus, Garet the Gallade jumping through the trees like a ninja normally would. As he kept going, he also kept a sharp eye out for anyone who would go in and find themselves stuck. As an explorer, if there was one thing he needed to be prepared for, it was terrain.
Later in the evening, Ignus had set up camp on a small piece of land surrounded by swamp, but was on relatively higher ground. As he was looking around for firewood with Garet, the Gallade accidentally stepped on a branch, then the two heard a voice. Garet immediatelly tensed, but Ignus sort of recognized the voice and placed his hand on the Gallade's shoulder. "Calm yourself Garet." He then sees Dale coming through the trees and waves, a smile on his face, the lock of fire-red hair over his right eye, the hem of his black trenchcoat covered in mud, his explorer's hat on his head. "Hello there. May I ask what you are doing here in the swamplands?" Garet stood by Ignus' side, looking curiously at Dale.

((not at all! everyone is welcome! though all the characters on the site in an isolated swamp wouldn't make a lot of sense l-lol. any of the villains are welcome to make an appearance too~~!! I'm mostly just hoping to get Dale to meet some Characters with this :) )
Dale took a moment to seize the other trainer up. He didn't seem to be a threat, and she was quite relieved to see another face after hours of wading through the mud. anything was a welcome reprieve from thinking about her wet feet and mud soaked pants.
"I could ask you the same." She said, pulling her Bandanna down to reveal her face. "I'm doing a bit of exploring I guess. Heading towards Sienna town, to check it out." She took a moment to look at his Gallade. Dale wasn't very familiar with Sinnoh region Pokemon, however she recognized the similarities to the Ralts line, and made the connection, hand moving to rest on her belt.
"I'm Dale." She said after a moment of quiet, a little awkward in her introduction.

(^^)
Ignus nodded smiling. "I see, I see...going through the swamplands to get to Sienna town is a challenge in and of itself, especially for someone like me..." Garet bowed to Dale in a formal manner, standing up and nudging Ignus in the side, him chuckling. "Ah yes, introductions are in order aren't they?"
He then takes off his explorer's hat and bows to Dale sweeping the hat in front of him, then places it back on his head as he stood up. "I am Ignus Draco, renowned explorer of the unknown, and four-time Pokemon Champion. Nice to make your acquaintance, Dale."
Just then, one of the Pokeballs on the sash across Ignus' chest jumped off, releasing an Embat in a flash of white light which landed on Ignus' shoulder, him chuckling. "Ah yes, this is Fiamma, my newest addition to my team. And this is one of my veteran pokemon on the team, Garet." The Gallade nodded, the Embat looking at Dale curiously.

((suuuuuper sorry to have kept you waiting :'( I went to a con over the weekend and was horribly busy!!))
Dale found the formal nature of Ignus' introduction unnerved her more than it should have, and she felt the distinct, sinking sensation. She just knew she was going to look dumb in front of this proper trainer.
"... nice to meet you." she mumbled, looking up at his Pokemon again. Surprise danced over her features as she recognized the embat as the same breed as the fire starter in the lab. This one was definitely different pokemon though, this one was older and stronger; the personality of the two seemed different.
"An em...bat right? I'm surprised you have one. I only just got my Damplie about two weeks ago." she shifted in the mud, pulling her boots out of them so that she wouldn't sink down too far.

(It's fine. ^^" )
Ignus smiled and nodded. "Yes, Fiamma is an Embat, Dale. She's quite the friendly and affectionate type...completely different from Garet here." The Embat then nudged Ignus' cheek playfully and he chuckled, petting its head while the Gallade sighed and made what looked like a small smile.
He then heard what Dale said and looked at the trainer. "Ah yes, I saw you and that other young man at Maple Town. I was in the crowd, really...don't necessarily like the media too much, what with me being a Champion and all..." He then smiled. "So, a Damplie, eh? I think it will be a wonderful asset to you in any battle, and since it's a Water-type, it'll definitely help you as a surfer, diver, etc...heh heh, sorry for me rambling..."
He then scratched the back of his head nervously, then looked up at the sky. "Hmmm...seems to be getting late..." He then looks at Dale. "My pokemon and I were about to head back to our camp. Care to accompany us?"

((oh whoops, silly me! /casually mispells everything every. I'll fix it once this post is done!))
Dale scratched her shoulder, looking unsure. The offer was quite tempting, if she was being honest. if the camp was already set up, it was bound to be dry, at the very least, and Ignus seemed fairly trustworthy. After a moment of contemplation, she nodded, hand resting on her belt of pokeballs.
"Alright, I'll go with you as long as it's dry." she said briskly, seeing no need to respond to his rambling speech about the joys of water pokemon; she was already looking forward to learning them on her own.
Her interest was peaked by something he mentioned just before. "You're a League Champion?" she asked, looking curious.

Ignus smiled and nodded. "Alright. Follow us then." And with that, Garet bounded towards the campsite, Ignus casually walking with Fiamma perched on his shoulder. When he and Dale got to the campsite, it was situated on a decently-sized spot of land surrounded by swamp, but high enough to be considered dry land, a small fire ring already set up, the Gallade sitting next to it and nodding to them when they arrived. Ignus then sat down, Fiamma still on his shoulder as he took out some matches and some small snippings and started the fire, the Embat saying her name once and jumped down to stare at the fire, and Ignus chuckled.
As he sat there, he remembered Dale asking him a question, and he looked at the Trainer, smiling. "Yes, I am. I was the Kanto League Champion about eleven years ago. Then I got my Johto League Championship title four years later." He looked up at the sky. "Then I got my Hoenn League Championship title two years after I got my Johto Champion title, and I got my Sinnoh League Championship title two years after I got my Hoenn Champion title. So..." He then counted on his fingers. "Kanto Champion in 2000, Johto Champion in 2004, Hoenn Champion in 2006, and Sinnoh Champion in 2008." He then looked at Dale and smiled. "Tell me Dale, are you thinking of going for the Championship title here in Kansai? I was giving it some thought myself, but then again..." He glanced at the Embat on his shoulder. "If I'm going for it, I'll need to give Fiamma here some training, since she's the newest addition to my team." He then looked at Garet. "Garet was on my Sinnoh team when I battled the Elite Four of that region." The Gallade nodded and looked at the fire.

Seeing a patch of dry land was more than a relief for the travel weary trainer. She shrugged her backpack off carefully, frowning at the mud that seemed to have clung to spots all over her, but said nothing and she pulled her sleeping bag out and laid it out on the ground, a safe distance from the fire. She plucked a scuffed pokeball from her belt and tossed it into the air, her Macargo appearing in a flash of red. She let out a happy puff of black smoke, and Dale leaned on the warm rock that made up the shell of her lava snail as Ignus began to speak.
Dale crossed her arms, listening quietly to Ignus as he listed off his achievements. It boggled her mind a bit how much travelling and fighting the man before her had done. It took her a moment to realize a question was being directed at her, and Ignus had the change to finish his thought before she considered his question.
"Oh. uh..." She mumbled, looking at her Macargo as she blew happy smoke circles into the air. "I never really thought about it I guess. I'm not really much of a battler or anything. Just some person, travelling around."
she paused for a moment to think more deeply on it, looking thoughtfully at the fire. "I guess it would make my folks happy, me actually doing something constructive rather than wander around aimlessly taking field notes. But I dunno, it's not really what I came here to do. I mean, I only even have two badges from home, so it's not like I'm very committed to the whole, league thing." She shrugged non-committally, looking at her Macargo fondly as the Pokemon bobbed her big head.
((I'm really sorry for slow replies u___u I'm a university student so I'm pretty busy most of the time! I'll try to respond at least once or twice a day if I can though.))

Ignus listened and nodded. "I see...well, I think it's best that you do what you think you should...I can tell you're going to be a great trainer...who knows, maybe one day you and I shall face off in a battle..." Garet looked at Ignus curiously, then Ignus continued. "You see, after I got my Sinnoh Championship, I would have gotten the Championship title in Unova...however..." He chuckled and removed his hat. "Fate had other plans for someone like me, and what with four titles under my belt already, I figured I needed a break, take a look around, see the other regions in a different light...which led to me becoming a Pokemon Explorer, in hopes of unraveling new mysteries that are hidden beneath the surface of each region." He then looked up at the sky. "Pokemon understand us quite well, and we understand them through basic interaction...talking to them, feeding them, battling alongside them...and yet there's still a lot about Pokemon we don't know..."
He then looked at Dale with a smile on his face. "Professor Oak taught me that when I started out...to think it took until now to realize that..." Fiamma nudged his cheek and said her name a few times, then Ignus nodded. "Yes, I agree, Fiamma."

Dale listened a bit uncomfortably, not sure why someone who had just met her seemed so keen on sharing so much about himself. She stayed quiet though, absorbing the information presented to her. She wasn't very forthcoming about herself and had nothing to say to most of what he said, feeling a distinct notion that she was being socially inept.
"Uh, yeah there is a lot to learn about Pokemon and stuff, huh." she said lamely, shifting uncomfortably before moving to sit on her sleeping bag, watching as Macargo lowered her head to lay beside her.
"I'm just going to let a couple more Pokemon out." she said, releasing Allegro, her beloved Trapinch and the newest addition to her team, Damplie. The bobble-headed desert Pokemon yawned, laying down between Dale and her Macargo, happy to bask in the warmth radiating from the fire-slug. The curious Damplie hopped around a bit, examining Ignus and Garret, quacking softly.
"Don't mind Webb, he's just friendly." the small Platypus-like creature prodded at the fully evolved Gallade, quacking in greeting.

Ignus smiled. "I see...then, would you mind if I brought out some others, Dale?" He then took two pokeballs from his belt and tossed them into the air, releasing his Zebstrika Arashi and, surprisingly, his Zoroark Nexus, who just took on the form of Garet and smirked, the Gallade sighing and paying him no mind. Nexus and Garet never really saw eye to eye, so when it came to battling, those two would spend most of the time arguing with each other than actually battling the opponent's Pokemon.
The Gallade, of course, turned his attention to the Damplie quacking in greeting, and nods, saying "Gallade" once, and then for some reason thought it would be best to converse with the Damplie, as he never saw any new Pokemon besides Fiamma, so he was quite curious. Nexus however, just make a clicking sound and reverts back, obviously annoyed that the Gallade was ignoring the Zoroark.
Arashi just sat on his legs and nodded his head to Dale and her Pokemon, Ignus petting the zebra Pokemon's head smiling.

Dale sat there, vaguely intimidated by the high levelled Pokemon of the trainer before her. The many first-stage Pokemon she had felt painfully obvious all of a sudden.
"Not at all..." she mumbled, watching Webb happily converse with the much older Pokemon. He was such an odd little guy. Dale's eyes were drawn to the moody Zoroark, watching the fox like Pokemon curiously. She had to admit, it was a pretty Pokemon, and not one she'd encountered before.
"If you don't mind me asking, Ignus, what is that dark type you've got there? I haven't really encountered anything like it before." The scientific part of her mind was fascinated by the ease with which the pretty creature shifted forms. It seemed to be an uncommon trait for Pokemon, and something that she'd like to know more about.

Ignus smiled and looked at Dale. "Oh, you mean Nexus." He chuckled, the Zoroark raising an eyebrow, its arms folded as Ignus began. "Must be your first time seeing a Zoroark, huh? They're pretty rare, their first form Zorua included. You see, Zorua and Zoroark have an interesting ability no other Pokemon has: Illusion." Nexus then proceeded to shift in a flash of light into the Damplie conversing with Garet, the Gallade still conversing.
"When using Illusion, a Zorua, or Zoroark in this case, has the ability to morph their appearance into any Pokemon they see. In this case, Nexus here can take on the appearance of any Pokemon out here. Be it Arashi, my Zebstrika, my Embat Fiamma, my Gallade Garet, or even any of your Pokemon...to be honest, when I caught him as a Zorua, Nexus' options of using Illusion were slightly limited...however, he's managed to get over this setback. There is a drawback to this ability: the ability is cancelled when Nexus actually takes a hit."
Ignus then blinks and scratches his head nervously. "Ah, sorry. I must admit, being around all these Pokemon I have must be...a tad intimidating...but, not to worry, not to worry. I haven't really had a battle in...I think a few months, and to be honest, I'd rather not."
