After how hectic the parade had been, things had finally started to calm down. Brooke had had multiple trainers coming to visit her to obtain their Pokémon Licenses and their starter Pokémon, something she thoroughly enjoyed doing – especially as she had Pokémon from all of the other regions to pick from. So far, it seemed that Charmander and Mudkip were the favourites, but all of the Pokémon were going to be well loved; she could just see it in the kids eyes. It made her remember the day that she received her Charmander, which was now the raging beast of a Charizard that patrolled the grounds of the lab alongside Grumpig.
Ampharos was by her side, the little electric type being her sort of lab assistant. Brooke reached over and scratched Amphy behind her ears affectionately, the Pokémon bleating cheerily. She was seated at her desk, tapping away at her computer; writing up a follow up report on the tower incident. After a bit more in depth searching, her excavation team had found that a few feet underground they found the destroyed interior of what looked like the power source of the tower – but it was found to also be destroyed by the explosion. Another dead end. Brooke groaned and ran her hands over her face, she would have to call it a case closed. Maybe they’d erect another tower elsewhere, it’d be a bugger, but maybe next time she could disable it and examine it.
Never the less, she saved her work and quit the word processor and leaned back in her seat, adjusting the lapel of her lab coat. She had requested Ignus come to her lab so they could have a chat at some point, but that was a week ago. She wasn’t entirely sure whether he’d show up, she hoped that he would though – they had a few things they needed to discuss.

He was nervous, there was no doubt about it. As Ignus made his way from his campground down to the Pokemon Lab, his stomach was twisted in knots, but he shook off the nerves, clutching the handle of his metal briefcase as he walked. He could tell that the parade had brought Professor Verity some new Trainers, as he looked down at the new hopeful Trainers with a small smile on his face. As he walked by, some of the new Trainers noticed him and smiled, Ignus smiling back, which was the right thing to do.
He understood that Brooke was very angry about the tower incident back at Corkwood Jungle, the incident of course being only a week ago, and he could tell from the tone of her voice when she requested him to come see her after the parade was over that she sounded...disappointed. He didn't blame her; he acted like he did when he first started out as a Pokemon Trainer after the battle between them was over, completely out of character. But he wanted to make up for that error by apologizing. Whether or not the Professor would accept his apology, however, would be the real challenge set before him.
As he walked up to the lab doors, one of his Pokeballs jumped off of his sash, and his Gallade Garet looked up at his Trainer, the bladed Pokemon's face one of worry. Garet could tell immediatelly when something was troubling his Trainer, and the Explorer and Champion looked down at his partner, smiled, and patted its head gently. "It's okay, Garet. I'm prepared to face the consequences for my actions." His Gallade looked at him for a minute, then Garet nodded as Ignus' hand curled up into a fist and rapped the door lightly with the back of his hand, taking a deep breath.
"Brooke, it's me Ignus. I have come as requested." He then cautiously opened the door, walking into the Pokemon Lab, his Gallade Garet not too far behind him. He then whispered to Garet, "Garet, make sure you behave yourself, okay?" The Gallade nodded silently, making sure not to upset his Trainer by acting out of turn.

Brooke pursed her lips when she heard the knock on the door, “Come in.” She stated simply, but did not move from her seat behind her desk. Other researchers decided it was time to take a break, so retired to the back room where they would undoubtedly listen in on whatever conversation was about to unfold. Once Ignus was inside, she would offer him the seat in front of her desk; she switched off the screen of her computer and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. “I won’t keep you waiting, this will only take a moment.” She told him, before lacing her hands together and placing them on the table – waiting a moment to allow him to get comfortable; or as comfortable as he could in this scenario.
Once he was ready, she would begin, “Your time in Kansai has made you… Somewhat unpopular Ignus, although you are probably aware of that. As Professor, I feel the need to inform you that unless you start listening to those around you and begin to control your emotions that I will be forced to make the call to Oak and have you retire your services here in Kansai and get you a ticket for the ferry home.”
She paused, allowing him to take it in. Her expression suddenly softened some, “You must understand that this is an administration decision and not only that of my own. You have one more chance to prove yourself Ignus. I can’t help but say that I’m disappointed in you.” Another pause, she wet her lips, “Ignus, we all know who you are. You’re a Champion, four times over and you’re a renowned explorer for goodness sake! Your reputation was untarnished until you stepped foot onto this island. What went wrong between your journey from Johto to here? You are a strong and powerful man, Ignus, and it feels to me as if you’re just well… Throwing it all away with foolish mistakes. I recommend you take some time out from your work and calm down, hell, go challenge the Gym Leaders. Take this off of your mind, whatever it is.”
Brooke then leaned forward some, “Ignus. I need your help, even Oak knew that – it’s why he sent you here. But neither of us can do our jobs if we’re emotionally compromised. I don’t want to know what happened to you, it’s none of my business. All I know, is that you aren’t capable of thinking rationally and your actions have proved that – please Ignus, for the sake of us and of the others, take a break. Explore the island, unfortunately everything’s chartered territory here so you won’t be able to find anything new – but I’m sure there’s plenty of space to explore and clear your head.”
She took in a breath and leaned back into her seat, resting her hands on her lap. “And about that battle, I want a rematch. I may have won but because of what you did to Raichu it wasn’t a real victory.” She even offered him a small wink and leaned forward again, “But we’ll worry about that later. That’s all Mr. Draco.”
With that, Brooke turned on her computer screen again and began to check her emails. In the mean time, Amphy had gotten a piece of pokeblock and offered it out to Gallade, bleating happily.

Ignus waited until Brooke offered him a seat, and he sat down, his Gallade Garet standing next to him, watching each of his reactions carefully. The Explorer then removed his hat, revealing his silver-grey hair and the one strand of fire-red hair, and sighed, letting the Professor know he was ready.
As he sat there, he listened to the Professor's every word. He just sat there, sometimes shooting a look whenever Garet was about to say something, telling the Gallade to stay silent. He could tell that his actions since he came were...unorthodox at best. Even he knew that, and he was a Champion four times over. Yet, here he was, acting like a careless Trainer that can't control the power his Pokemon possessed. His expressions sometimes changed slightly, but he nodded to each word, knowing that now would be a good time to start listening to others, just like Brooke said.
Take a break... Ignus looked down, and sighed. He definitely needed some time to clear his head, get rid of whatever happened. He could also tell that Brooke respected his privacy, which also meant whatever happened that involved his scar. He also looked down upon hearing the rematch part. He could tell that Brooke was serious; after all, he did hurt the feelings of her Raichu by saying the victory wasn't real...even though it was his pride that was talking at the time, it was still him talking.
While he sat back taking it all in, his Gallade Garet looked over at the Ampharos walking over to him with a pokeblock, offering it out to the Gallade, bleating happily. The Gallade looked at the pokeblock, then at the Ampharos, then back at the pokeblock, and bowed respectfully, taking the pokeblock and taking small bites, enjoying it. Ignus looked at the two Pokemon, and he couldn't help but smile, looking down at his hat as he sat there taking it all in.

Seth didn't even take time to knock on the door to the lab. As soon as Unfezant had dropped him off and he'd withdrawn it, he took no time waiting on how he would approach the Professor.
With the weight of his side he grabbed the knob and opened the door so swiftly it made quite a bang, but he didn't falter. "Professor Verity! Professor Verity!!"
As soon as he got to her, he began to babble. "Professor, I'm sorry for the blunt entrance but I needed to let you know there's a poacher out there in Kansai he just tried to take Luxio and me but I got awa-" he took a sharp breath, finding he had suddenly run short of it.

The sound of someone bursting through the doors had Brooke on her feet immediately, she was used to the sound of bad news before it even arrived – and this sounded like bad news. Brooke straightened up and moved around her desk, “You’ll have to excuse me.” She said to Ignus as she turned to see Seth rushing in, panicking and breathing heavily and spouting out a load of gibberish; all Brooke heard was ‘poacher’ and ‘Luxio’ and she let out a shushing noise.
“Hey hey hey hey, Seth, calm down. You’re safe, you’re safe now.” She placed her hands on his shoulders, looking into his eyes as she’d continue, “Take a deep breath, there we go. Here, take a seat beside Ignus. I’ll get you a glass of water.” She’d go to lead Seth to sit down in the chair beside Ignus and left the pair alone for a moment as she went into the break room at the back of the lab – there was a sudden nervousness amongst her associates; they had heard what Seth had said too. Brooke gave them a grim smile as she poured out a glass.
Upon returning, she offered Seth the glass of water and wheeled her chair around from behind the desk to the other side of Seth, sitting down so that she was closer to him. “Alright, take a big gulp of that. You’ve had a shock, just take a few deep breaths, think for a few moments and then tell me... What’s happened?”

Ignus sat there calmly, or at least was calm when the doors burst opened and Brooke immediately got up, excusing herself. He nodded calmly, his Gallade Garet looking at the doors, Ignus waving him off with one hand, shaking his head silently. He then listened carefully to what was happening, and almost at once, his expression became grim at the mentioning of the word "poacher".
Almost immediately afterwards, Brooke led Seth to sit in a chair besides Ignus, him seeing that the Pokemon Ranger was a little out of breath, and Ignus began thinking, This kid must be in a total panic...poachers, here in Kansai...but... He then stopped, remembering what Brooke said to him. He didn't want to do anything careless again, and he could tell that if he did go with them, he would only make things worse. He didn't like ignoring the danger, but he felt like he had to, just this once. His Gallade, meanwhile, had begun to pat Ignus' arm on the armrest of the chair, the pokeblock in its hand, still taking small bites. The Explorer looked down at Garet, and smiled softly, but then the smile faded, and he shook his head.
The Professor then came back with a glass of water, and Ignus just sat there and watched as Brooke moved her chair next to Seth, then sat down. Ignus didn't speak at all. Instead, he just sat there, and waited for Seth's response. Whatever news the young Ranger had for both of them, it didn't sound good at all.

Seth sat down beside Ignus and took a big sip of the water before continuing.
"I was walking the trails near the mountains, with Luxio. Suddenly Luxio was caught up in this huge net, and some thug came up from behind me and tried to kidnap us both. Leavanny got free and cut Luxio loose, and the guy just dropped meand ran. He threw Luxio off, but not before getting bit.
"I don't want to believe it, but we've got a poacher out there..."
In the doorway, Nyght Zasq appeared and stood. He'd heard everything.
"Professor Verity, excuse my eavesdropping and trespassing, but it seems this is too serious to just let by. I'm willing to help. Kansai's my home, after all."

A man going around setting traps was really not what Brooke needed. She groaned, “This really isn’t good... But I can’t go to investigate, my schedule is booked up until the end of the month!” She ran her forefinger and thumb along her jaw line and looked down at Seth but then Nyght arrived, she nodded, “Of course Nyght, but please, take Seth with you. He can take you to where it happened, but not just the two of you, I don’t doubt your talents but there may be more out there. Hey Ignus, your friend is a Ranger, this sounds like something she’d be interested in? I’ll get Lorna on the line as well, Seth; if you have any friends that you think will be good for the job as well that’d be good. You don’t want to go in too small a group, so going in numbers can overwhelm the poachers; because there may be more than one out there.” Hint Evie hint.
Brooke moved herself and her chair back around to behind her desk, “I’m getting the media involved. I’ll email Jack and get him to do a report for the Sentinel and make sure that everyone knows about this and are vigilant. The last thing I want is other people getting attacked unawares.” She quickly typed an email to Jack telling him the situation, hoping he could get something done asap.
Next she would scoot to her phone and lift it to her ear, she had Lorna on speed dial and waited patiently for an answer. “Hey, Lorna. I have Seth here, he’s been attacked; we think it’s by poachers. I need you and him to go out and take a look at what’s going on. Others will be coming too, if you can get back to my lab as soon as you can that’d be great. Something bad is coming Lorna, we need to be prepared. Alright, see you soon.” Brooke ran a hand over her face, “I should have anticipated this really... but even now it’s still a shock.”

Ignus listened to Seth's story, and he sat there, contemplating something. Great...just great...poachers! I really dislike those kinds of people even more! His head perked up when Brooke asked him about his Pokemon Ranger friend. At first, he looked a tad confused; then he realized who she was talking about. "You must be talking about Lumine, Brooke. Yes, she is a Pokemon Ranger, and yes, I'll have her join in. Being a Pokemon Ranger, there's no way she'll let this happen." He then proceeded to get up and get out his PokeNav, since he had Lumine's number on speed dial, but he then turned to Nyght. "If I may ask Nyght, where will this little group be heading to start the investigation?"
(Not sure if I should RP as Ignus and Lumine in one post...)

"C'mon boyo let's go!"
Wind roared in Lorna's ears as the world below hurtled by at a frightening pace. She'd given Dragonite permission to fly at his top speed, something he was rarely allowed to do. It took only moments for the Maple Town Lab to pull into view and the dragon began his descent. The Johto veteran thought back on what Brooke had told her. She'd been at her base camp in the wilds when her satellite phone had gone off and Brooke had been on other end saying something about poachers in Kansai. Of course she'd exploded with a thunderous 'WHAT!?' that had sent nearby bird pokemon flapping off in terror before she'd jumped on Dragnoite's back and spurred him into the sky.
The large orange dragon hadn't even come to a full stop when she'd jumped off of his back and ran into the lab. Her expression was murderous. "Poachers! Poachers on my bloody island!" she snarled. Lorna had become a field biologist because she loved watching pokemon in the wild - she loved all pokemon in general and to think that someone was out to harm them for benefit - "I swear to Ho-Oh I'm going to grab him by the scruff of his goddamn neck and I'll make a Nyght's Hitmonchan's Mega Punch feel like a friggin' love tap!"
She abruptly pulled up a chair next to Brooke with a sour expression. Raging Lorna was raging.

Nyght was about to answer Ignus when Lorna burst in- that was surprisingly quick. Nyght had to hand it to Lorna- when she wanted to be mad, she got MAD.
Nyght turned back to Ignus and answered his question. "I propose we get the group together here, and any others can meet us at the spot Seth found them. We'll figure out what to do from there."
Seth had taken this chance to get up and ask Brooke to use the PC. "I want to contact Evie and switch out a Pokemon, if that's okay. I have my Houndour trained for tracking."
Seth was slowly going from being shaken to getting angry about this poacher. He was not a full-fledged ranger yet, but by Gyrados he wasn't going to let this get out of his grasp.

"You must be talking about Lumine, Brooke. Yes, she is a Pokemon Ranger, and yes, I'll have her join in. Being a Pokemon Ranger, there's no way she'll let this happen."
Brooke nodded, “Lumine, that was the name. Yes, please get in touch with her, she’d be a great help.” Just then, Lorna burst in through the doors – blimey, she had gotten here quickly! But then again, upon the back of a Dragonite she shouldn’t be too surprised. “Morning Lorna.” Brooke chuckled.
"I propose we get the group together here, and any others can meet us at the spot Seth found them. We'll figure out what to do from there."
Brooke then realised something grim about Nyght. “Wait. Nyght. I just had a thought, you can’t go. Trainers from all over are looking for you, we can’t have you venturing into danger and leading innocent people in with you unprepared for what’s coming. I’ll leave the choice to you but just... Think about it. I don’t want any casualties.”
"I want to contact Evie and switch out a Pokemon, if that's okay. I have my Houndour trained for tracking."
“Good, do that. I’ve thought of someone else who can help as well, William, he let me examine his pokemon once – he was there at the parade. Crystal Onix? That was him. I can think of a few others as actually. I’ll give them all a call and get them here asap.”
