When Soren was swiftly swept off of his feet Evie gasped, "I'm so sorry!" Even though it was Aerodactyl that had knocked him over it was her pokemon that had been the cause of it. She gritted her teeth, how in Lugia's name was she going to get Aphrodite to start listening to her? She doubted this would work in a single battle alone, the vixen was too full of rage to want to listen to anyone.
The Aerial Ace was ordered and Evie knew the attack was definitely going to hit because of its nature. Everyone knew that. The vixen had other plans, it spat a Fire Blast at the large dragon like creature and burrowed once again into the earth, "Oh Aph, you're not going to get anywhere hiding." She groaned. She was hurt, Evie knew that, the vixen would use evasive tactics now. Aphrodite may not be herself, but she knew her well enough to anticipate some of her moves.

"I'm fine Evie, don't worry about it!" Soren called, waving his hand aimlessly as to prove his point. The silver haired gentleman swore softly when Aphrodite let loose a Fire Blast that caused Alexander to barrel roll in order to evade it - obviously just as the vixen had hoped for as soon as the ancient reptile had altered his flight path she dove beneath the earth. She was evading now, trying to lick her wounds and use Guerrilla tactics...but that was a strategy he was intimately familiar with having fallen back on it many, many times in the past. "Alexander - get close to the ground."
Aerodactyl nodded and descended so that he was barely hovering over the battlefield...and that's all he did. Alexander knew his trainer's mind well and he realized exactly what the gentleman gym leader wished him to do - and that was wait.

Drevlin's dragon companion snorted at the move, pawing the ground in anticipation. He could guess the Ninetails' strategy somewhat--buy some time to recover at least a few moments before going at it again. He rumbled gently when he felt another pat from his trainer on his side. Things were going to get even more interesting really fast, both of them knew.

Aphrodite remained under ground for a painfully long amount of time. Evie fumbled with Aph's pokeball, "Come on Aph, get back up here.." She muttered, the last thing she needed was to get another pokemon to dig and go and find her if she was struggling down there; it'd be awfully embarrassing!
Or maybe she'd fled? Evie gulped at the thought, she hoped that it was neither of those things and it was just that the vixen was biding her time and waiting for the moment to strike.
Evie exhaled loudly in relief when the vixen reappeared, bursting free from the soil with another Psyshock attack hurtling towards Aerodactyl. Aphrodite looked awful, she needed to rest, "Aph stop it! You're only going to hurt yourself more!" The vixen paid her no heed and as a last resort began a charge for the great stone beast.

Soren tapped his foot as he he waited for Aphrodite to reappear. For a moment he feared the worst, that the fiery vixen had gotten herself into trouble underground, but then she burst free from the earth with a snarl and a Psyshock attack. Alexander dropped fully down onto the ground, head bowed low and wings crossed in front of him as he tried to weather the attack. It lacked the power of the first one, showing Aphrodite's fatigue, but it still packed a punch and the ancient reptile skidded back a few feet, his claws creating small grooves in the ground.
Evie hastily fumbled for her pokeball, trying to call the vixen back but the Ninetails was having none of it and made a desperate charge towards his Aerodactyl. Soren was torn for a moment, another attack like Ancient Power and she'd certainly be down for the count, but if he held back Alexander would probably be put in the same place. As much of a tank as the pseudo-dragon was, he could tell his companion was getting tired and starting to feel the hurt. "Alexander Crunch and then grapple with her!"
Alexander planted himself firmly, jaws agape as he let out a hiss like an angry crocodile, wings outspread. Close quarters combat really wasn't his thing, but it was really the only option here if he wanted to avoid causing too much damage to Evie's Ninetails.

Like the other trainers, Drevlin felt anxious and worried with the amount of time that Aphrodite was out of sight underground. He jumped a little at her sudden reappearance and flinched when he saw the state she was in. "Jackal," The Flygon looked over his shoulder at the small call. "If we end up going against her, no funny business. She's strong, but she's obviously not going to listen to anyone right now. The last thing we need is...even more injuries."
Jackal nodded, looking back to the battle and calling out in protest when he saw the Ninetails charging the dragon. This probably wouldn't end too well.

The vixen was going to be all teeth and claws when she would make contact with Aerodactyl, Aphrodite was going to her last resort; going for a last hopeless scrap with the dragon that she was surely going to lose. Evie gritted her teeth, this was not going to end well, not at all. "No, this needs to stop!" She shouted, the vixen paid no heed when she neared the stone beast.
That was when her team reacted; Ares and Persephone slithering their way onto the field and blocking the way between the Ninetales and Aerodactyl. Both snakes hissed at her viciously and the rest of Evie's team quickly joined them in creating a barrier to prevent her getting any closer. The vixen ground to a halt, snarling back at the group. She wanted to get by, and she was going to do everything to try. A Fire Blast was hurled forward, deflected by Milotic's Water Pulse. The Ninetales howled in dismay, trying again with a Psyshock - which Purrloin slunk in front of to absorb, making the most of her immunity.
Evie could see what they were trying to do, they were trying to show Aph that they worked as a team; not as individuals. Aph tried to make an escape using Dig, but Gligar used his speed to knock her back with an Aerial Ace; the entire group stared her down, but it was Ares that took the field now. As Evie's most trusted and the one who had fought to try and get her back, it was between the snake and the vixen.
It could be clearly be seen now the vixen had been backed into a corner, it reflected in her eyes; but her body language still protested in its utmost. Evie was gobsmacked, but she needed to lend her voice. "Aphrodite... Please. Look, you belong with us, with me. Please don't fight like this any more!" She pleaded, "I'm sorry for what happened to you Aph, I'm so sorry. I wasn't strong enough, I failed you. But please, I need you to forgive me if we're ever going to be able to fix this!"
The vixen sneered at her, it seemed she was not yet convinced. Evie's team tensed, awaiting the next move.

Alexander had just about been ready to clamp his jaws down on the vixen when the rest of Evie's team sprang out in front of him creating a barrier. The old dragon looked confused for a moment, looking to his trainer for guidance. Soren gave him a small nod which Alexander returned as he shuffled back towards the gym leader, leaving the field open to Evie's pokemon alone.
"Well done old boy," Soren said quietly, patting Alexander's head. The Aerodactyl let out an appreciative growl before returning his reptilian gaze back onto the field and more importantly Evie's Ninetails. The dragon had to give it to the fiery vixen, she was strong even if she disrespected her trainer. Soren also watched the scene closely and a low whistle had his Absol at his side, crouched and ready to spring into action should Aphrodite get out of control - not that he had any real concern she would. He believed in Evie, the girl just needed to believe in herself as well.

When the sudden barrier was formed, Leona jumped off of Jackal's neck, dashing to stand nearby as a precaution, her eyes on Evie in case of a signal to use her Grasswhistle. Jackal himself and Drevlin stood and made their way a little closer cautiously, but alertly. Bri went to Alexander and Soren, making sure they were all right.

Evie had had enough, this wasn't working. Even with the effort of her pokemon, it just wasn't going to work out the way she would have hoped. She held out the pokeball and ordered her return, the vixen disappeared in a flash of red light. Evie frowned at the ball, "One day." She sighed, shaking her head as she felt the metal warm beneath her fingers in protest. She slipped the ball into her satchel and turned to Soren and Drevlin.
"Thanks for the help, but... I need to go. I need to think about this." She sighed, rubbing her temples, "Thanks again, I just need some time." Evie explained, turning on her heel and going to leave. Her team bid their individual farewells and scampered off after her.

Soren reached out a hand as if to stop the girl from leaving, but withdrew it with a sigh. He had tried his best, but the problem ran far deeper than he'd first anticipated. Aphrodite had serious emotional scarring from that Poacher evolving her and it seemed that time was going to be the only thing that would heal the wounds - if they ever healed at all.
"It'll all work out Evie," he called to her retreating figure. "You'll see. Come by Windfall at any time if there's anything you think I can do to help."

Drevlin stood as Evie began to leave, also almost making a gesture to stop her. But then he bowed his head and shook it slightly, biting his lower lip.
Suddenly Leona ran after the trainer, making a few calls. She quickly rubbed against her legs, careful not to cause her to stop or trip over her, mewling sweetly. She was making her own gesture to reassure her that everything would be all right at some point. Then she scampered back to her own trainer.
Once Evie was out of sight, Jackal made a low grumbling sound, bowing his head. "I know," Drevlin murmured, patting the Flygon. "But at least we gave it a shot, right? Like she said, she just needs some time."
Drevlin looked to Soren and offered a weak smile. "Well...it was worth a try. Maybe next time."
