Safely out of harm’s way, Terrance watched as the herd charged; seeing how the foals were indeed protected in the middle. The Mightyena wouldn’t stand a chance against those roaring flames, Terrance was glad that they’d gotten out in time! Once they made it back to Lorna’s camp, Terrance hopped off and released Tabia again, patting her nose, “Sorry about that girl, we were in a rush.”
He turned back to Lorna and grinned back at her, “No problem! It’s nice to have done something a bit more useful than just wandering around thinking about what to do. Gimme a bell whenever you need an extra pair of eyes again.” Terrance then looked around, then up at the mountains in the distance, “I hear that there’re some Braviary nesting in the mountains at the moment, I might head up there. Try catch myself one, like you said, a good flying type does come in handy.” He chuckled.
Admittedly, Terrance had two fliers in his box. The only problem was that, well. They were a Togekiss and an Altaria, which were lovely Pokémon and Terrance adored them. But with his reputation to uphold, they didn’t quite do him justice.

Lorna chuckled as she loaded up her satchel with all the gear from her little makeshift camp. Fastening the clasps she slung the heavy bag over Dragonite's neck to carry whilst they flew.
"Definately, it was nice working with someone competant for a change," she grinned as. "Hm that'd be a good start - hey mind if I tag along? My main base camp is up in the mountains and I have to lug this gear back anywway - it wouldn't hurt to check out the Braviary population while I'm up there."

At Lorna's offer of coming with him, Terrance cracked a smile, "Sure! Why not." Tit for tat and all that jazz, plus he'd be grateful for the human company... And a ride on Dragonite to spare him the long walk towards the mountain peeks. He would await for Lorna to ready herself before they would set off. (Hope you don't mind a wee time skip!) At the mountains, Terrance pointed to a small area where the land plateaued; where it would be safe to land. Once down, Terrance had sighted a group of Braviary flying up higher in the mountains, they could climb it without much hassle - he was sure of it. In the mountains, Tabia wouldn't be much use on the rocky terrain. So instead, Terrance released his mountain climber; his Luxray, who was large but agile and light on his feet. The lion pokemon purred and looked up longingly at the mountain face at the birds above. "Shall we set off then? Looks like there's a ledge leading a little higher, we might need to crack out some harnesses and climb up when we get a bit higher though."

Once they were safely down on the plateau Lorna withdrew her Dragonite and released her Altaria, the elegant pheonix like pokemon was right at home in the mountains, hovering above the ground and looking at her trainer expectantly. Dragonite loved the mountains just as well, but Altaria was much less likely to startle the flock of Braviary than the large yellow dragon. The biologist turned to admire Terrance's Luxray - it was quite a big specimen, nice glossy coat indicating a good diet and good health, a lovely creature to be sure.
"Shall we set off then? Looks like there's a ledge leading a little higher, we might need to crack out some harnesses and climb up when we get a bit higher though."
"Not a problem," she laughed as she hefted her satchel that she'd retrieved from Dragonite, over her shoulder. "I've got plenty of climbing gear, harnesses, ropes, crampons, you name it I've got it. I do a lot of work up in the mountains with the dragon pokemon so climbing goes with the territory. We should be able to free climb a little bit before we need to break out the gear though."
That said they started up the rock face. Lorna had her eye on a ledge that was about midway up, right before the climb went vertical. That's where they'd stop and break out the climbing gear - another reason she'd let out Altaria. She could fly up and attatch the anchor points for the support ropes for their harnesses .

We should be able to free climb a little bit before we need to break out the gear though."
Terrance nodded in agreement, cracking his fingers and uttering something to Luxray. Afterwards the lion pokemon disappeared up a different track, climbing at his own pace, "Lisimba will meet us farther up, obviously he won't be able to do the vertical climb." He chuckled, then led the way along the ledge; every now and again stones broke off and scattered down the face of the mountain, although it didn't seem to bother him all too much. Terrance was comfortable against the uneven rock face it seemed.
Once the ledge petered out so that they no longer could go any further, Terrance set down his pack to get out his climbing equipment. "Time to climb!" He said eagerly, securing the harness after stuffing his coat back into his pack. He looked over to Lorna's Altaria and offered it a grin as he took out his ropes, carabiners and such the like for climbing. He was grateful for the Altaria to lay out their path ahead, far safer than having to do it yourself!

Lorna grinned when she started securing her own climbing gear - it really was nice working with someone on her level of experience and physicality. She'd tried working with Aides a few times at the request of Professor Oak but they usually didn't last a month - the last one she'd taken on had quit after two weeks and from what she'd heard harldy refused to leave the safety of the lab nowadays.
Altaria gracefully drifted upwards on a thermal, securing the lines near the top and letting out a beautiful bell-like tone to signal that she was ready for them to start climbing. Lorna wasted no time and started to scale the vertical rockface with the ease and grace of an praticed climber. She glanced over at Terrance to make sure he was keeping up and chuckled. "Hey if you ever want to give up the whole Warden business I could always hire you on as an assisstant!"

They geared up and on Altaria's signal they were ready to go, Terrance waited politely for Lorna to go first and he followed. The rockface was good for climbing, plenty of crags, foot and hand holds for them to make use off. The stone was strong, there didn't seem to be any sign that parts of it may crumble; although further up they would need to be careful. Terrance gave a deep earthen laugh at Lorna's words, "Careful,I might take you up on that offer." He chuckled as they pressed further.
As they got higher up, bird Pokemon flew to and fro high in the sky above them. Terrance even saw a Salamance way up in the sky, only identifiable by the distinctive shaped wings in the sun, they were wading into dragon territory; so they'd need to be careful, but there were Braviary and Mandibuzz around, meaning there must be plenty of Rufflet and Vullaby roosting in the rocks. They didn't seem to pay much heed to the two climbers and the Altaria, Terrance was pleased - last thing they needed was the heralding of sharp beaks upon them.
Just higher up on the cliff face, where the rock curved into the mountain; a blue head with a darker mane poked out to look over the edge and mrowed down at the climbers who were still a way down. "Blimey. He got up there fast." His Luxray had a habit for that.

Lorna laughed at Terrance's comment. "Hey it's hard to find a good field hand - I've got a bit of a reputation for convincing my aides to stick to life in the lab."
That said the biologist focused on her climbing, humming softly to herself. Around them bird pokemon flew by and there was even a few dragon types soaring high in the sky above - not that she was concerned. She'd been in these mountains so many times, interacted with the wild pokemon on numerous occassions. She was in her element here. She put a hand up to act as a visor as she looked up at Terrance's Luxray. "Wow, your friend there certainly is fast!"

Terrance chortled at the thought, “I might be speaking too soon here but you don’t seem that frightening to me!” He joked, climbing up higher. “Yeah... Lisimba has the habit of finding lovely fast paths only large enough for himself to climb.” He said with a chuckle. “At least we’re nearly there.”
The small plateau that the Luxray had found was large enough to follow a somewhat reasonable path up towards the Rufflet and Vullaby nests. Terrance would have preferred a Rufflet, Braviary were beautiful and their warrior instinct was precious in battle; though a Mandibuzz was equally as fierce. “Looks like we won’t need the ropes from here. If Lisimba and your Altaria work together they can check for any weaknesses in the rock for us, should work right?” He suggested when they reached the plateau.

Lorna narrowed her eyes and inspected the path Terrance had pointed out. "Hmm that should work," she said with a nod. "Altaria go ahead with Luxray and test the structural integrity of the rock if you'd be so kind."
The blue, phoenix like pokemon let out another soft cry and bobbed her head, gracefully floating over to the large feline before both pokemon started up the path, carefully checking for any hidden dangers that could pose a threat to their trainers. Lorna started following and glanced back over her shoulder at Terrance. "Well there's no shortage of powerful flying-types up here, you'll have a great partner in no time."

The ledge seemed sturdy enough, the occasional bit of chatter between Altaria and Luxray as to whether the rock was safe enough to pass. Everything seemed to be going fine, a little bit of rock crumbling away every now and again but nothing that would lead to serious danger. A Braviary flew in close as it swung up in the air to land just above where they were climbing, making Terrance flinch as the claws swept in a bit close for comfort.
"I don't really have an excuse to not bring back a good Flying type eh?" He joked, after a breif while longer, the path widened and what they had come to was amazing. Flying types swarmed the air as they went about their business, manly Mandibuzz and Braviary, but the odd Fearow and Pidgeot flew by as well. Terrance placed his hands on his hips and exhaled deeply, "Wow. I never expected this many." He felt a bit like a kid in a candy store, he turned to Lorna, "Alright then Ms. Biologist. Which would you recommend for a Warden like me?" He grinned.

Lorna turned to Terrance with a crookied grin and took a step back, placing her hands on her hips as she looked the gym leader turned Warden up and down with her analytical eye. "Hmmm let's see - you're quite a tall laddie so we'll need a decently large flying-type, a good battler too given your position."
The biologist craned her head back and looked up at all the pokemon soaring and hovering around them. After a few moments of observing, picking out a few spirited individuals that caught her eye she looked back over at Terrance "Ah, yes I think a Braviary would be just the ticket for you." she said pointing to a particularly proud looking specimen who was perched on a rocky outcropping preening his feathers. "And I think this fella would suit you perfectly."
As if on cue the Braviary lifted his head, gazing at both Lorna and Terrance with fierce golden eyes. He clacked his beak and cocked his head to one side, as if curious of the newcomers.

Terrance looked up at the Pokemon that Lorna suggested for him, he flashed a wicked grin and cracked his knuckles. "Braviary it is then!" Without saying another word, Luxray bounded back to his trainer's side and groaned with anticipation; knowing already a battle was ready to be had. "Right then Lisimba, let's get ourselves that fella there; waddya say?" The Luxray studied the bird that clacked his beak at them, scrutinising the bird carefully before growling in approval.
Terrance grinned at Lorna, then turned to start the battle; fishing a fresh Ultra Ball from his back pack so that he could prepare for the catch when the time was right. "Let's get this show on the road Lisimba, keep it clean, let's try get this done quickly so we don't disturb many of the others." Lisimba prowled forward towards the outcrop where the Braviary sat, electricity crackled in its fur as it began to charge up a Thunder, "Now Lisimba!" He ordered, the lion leapt forward with a howling roar, the lightning surging from all over the Pokemon's body, the energy directed at the large bird Pokemon.

Lorna folded her arms over her chest and took a step back to stand next to Altaria as the battle commenced. Terrance's Luxray wasted no time in launching a powerful attack at the Braviary she'd pointed out, but the powerful eagle-like pokemon wasn't ready to be captured so easily. It pushed off its rocky perch and launched into the air with a few beats of its powerful wings, shrieking its irritation at the trainer and his pokemon below. Rather than taking off as some wild pokemon might the Braviary merely fixed Terrance's Luxray with a steely glare - it was quite obvious this bird wasn't going anywhere.
Which was precisely why Lorna had singled it out.
She had a knack for reading pokemon - after spending so much time in the mountains she'd come to recognize some of the pokemon and their personalities and she'd seen this particular Braviary on several occasions. It was more stubborn than a Steelix's hide and just as determined, a good challange for Terrance.
Braviary let out another shriek as its talons began glowing. Tilting its wings it dropped in a heart stopping dive, energy infused talons spread and ready to do as much damage as possible as it streaked towards Luxray with an angry cry.

Terrance howled a war cry, "I think we know what's coming next Lisimba!" The lion roared with him and stood steady as a rock as the bird dove in closer and closer. Electricity began to crackle amongst the lion's fur, the static building up with the tension of battle. "Steady now. Steady." The lion hunkered down to ensure its balance as the bird was only a stone's throw away, just a bit closer.. "Now! Thunder!"
The electricity that was sparking between the lion's fur caught ablaze in a torrent of lightning that forced its way towards the Braviary, Terrance didn't want to wait around, he wanted this Braviary down quickly and cleanly. Hopefully, they had timed it right that Braviary only had a select few choices; fly straight into the lighting, bank left and crash into the mountain, or bank right and get back into the open. Terrance hoped the attack would hit because of the range, but you never knew with wild Pokemon.
