The jungle was huge. That much was obvious to Drevlin as he gazed at the large trees. He felt the trunk of one and frowned slightly. Artificial. Shrugging, he shook his head and tossed a pokéball into the air, it's red light forming the shape of his massive Flygon Jackal.
Seeing the trees before him, Jackal grinned, immediately letting out a cry of excitement before charging straight for a particularly large one.
"Jackal, be careful!" The teen called quickly. "Those are--" He was too late. The Flygon had leaped straight into one, only to come back out looking like he had been scarred for life. "--artificial..."
The green dragon huffed in annoyance and crossed his arms. <Yeah, now you tell me.> He grunted, sticking out his tongue childishly when his trainer merely chuckled and shrugged.
"Well, it's not my fault. You act before you think. I guess that's why Yume says you have a brain capacity of a newborn Jigglypuff." Drevlin laughed at the angry snort he received in reply to the comment. "Okay, okay! I was just kidding. Well, I was. I don't know if she was. Of course, she never jokes...A-Anyway, I was thinking: we knew Unova like the back of our own hand, right?" Jackal nodded. "Well, why not challenge ourselves a little and train here for a bit? We could explore and learn how to maneuver like we did back home. What do you say, buddy?"
The Flygon's trademark grin returned at the words, and he nodded quickly. <If there's a challenge, boss, bring it on!>
Within moments, Drevlin had let out his entire team, catching a ride on Jackal's back as he flew around the area, calling out various combos and attacks, and sometimes letting his Pokémon decide for themselves what to do. It was more or less a free-for-all team-against-itself situation, and everyone was having fun.

The jungle was still a little tainted for her. Evie had lost one of her Pokémon to the hands of a poacher here, she had gotten her back thanks to a friend, but the relationship that was once so strong and loving was... Just not there anymore. The Vulpix, Aphrodite, was a peppy little thing and was one of the friendliest Pokémon anyone would meet. Since the poacher had her, he had forced her to evolve and the sweet Vulpix evolved into a bitter Ninetales. The Vulpix was still young, Evie wouldn’t evolve her until she knew the little vixen was ready. She certainly wasn’t ready when the poacher evolved her, which was what she assumed to part of the reason why the vixen seemed to resent her now. That, or the fact that Evie had failed to protect her and had failed further to battle for her freedom.
Evie worked hard to try and repair the relationship, the Ninetales now left her behind as it skulked on ahead into the undergrowth; the occasional flick of tails indicated her whereabouts. Evie sighed in despair, normally she was a cheerful and outgoing kind of girl; now all she felt was downtrodden by her Pokémon’s behaviour, no matter how justified it may be.
To prevent herself feeling too alone, she reached into her satchel and grabbed another pokeball, releasing her Seviper. Ares was one of her most loyal and trusted Pokémon, he had been the Pokémon she used to battle against the poacher; but neither had expected him to pull a steel type on them. Ares lost, not without some sacrifice. A large round scar now rested on the crown of his skull, where the Metagross had stomped on his head. Evie was just glad that he was alright, and that he didn’t resent her the way Ninetales did. He nuzzled her and they pressed on together, in the distance hearing the sound of what seemed to be another trainer.
Ninetales found them first. Aphrodite watched as the entire team of Pokémon played amongst themselves, having fun. The Pokémon hated them for it, being able to let their hearts out in joy. She flicked her tails in irritance, her consideration of an attack was quelled when Seviper wrapped his coils around her back leg and hissed at her, the vixen spat back. Evie groaned, “Stop it you two.”
Evie looked over to see what all the fuss was about. There seeing a trainer with blazing red hair with his Pokémon team, if he saw her there, she’d wave and introduce herself. If not? Well, she’d probably watch for a while and feel a bit jealous that the trainer in front of her actually had a team in harmony. Evie missed that.

Leona, Drevlin's Leafeon as well as the youngest in the group, was the first to notice the new arrivals. Dodging a Dragonbreath from her Hydreigon friend Akira, she called up to her trainer.
Hearing the call, Drevlin signaled everyone to stop--Jackal's loud call helping them all hear him--and then had the Flygon land. Hopping off his friend's back, the teenager glanced at the Seviper and Ninetails and then to their trainer. "Hello there," he smiled uncertainly. He had barely just seen them, but already he could tell something was wrong; the Ninetails in particular was catching his eye.
Being one of the nicer in the team, Leona padded over to the two new Pokémon, murmuring a small greeting. She was being more polite than outgoingly friendly like Jackal would have. The trainer's Roserade Bri followed Leona and waved a little. Caliban the Haxorus and Akira stayed a bit further back, nudging each other and still playing slightly. Jackal remained by Drevlin's side, but he was uncertain.
None of the group--not including Drevin or Jackal--had ever had any experience when it came to meeting a Pokémon that had been harmed by a human or something like that. While the others were only slightly oblivious to the true sadness of the Ninetails' attitude, Jackal already looked somewhat sympathetic while Drevlin managed to keep a straight face. The Ninetails, from the tense way she looked, reminded the teen of an Espeon that had been taken away from its trainer by Team Plasma back in the Unova Region. The poor thing had never been the same, even after it had been returned to its trainer.

Evie gave a small wave and smile in return to his greeting, "Hi there." Normally she was the bubbly, never shut up kind, but her eyes constantly drifted to the Ninetales; who looked like she was about to bite Ares or Leona judging by how her eyes shifted from one pokemon to the other and snarling viciously. Ares hissed at her again, his tail tightening around her leg. Evie that this could get dangerous, she pulled out the vixens pokeball, "Sorry Aphrodite." She muttered with no regret, forcing the pokemon back into the safety of the ball.
She ran a hand through her hair, smiling weakly at Ares. The snake was far more pleasant, not holding the same tainted behaviour as it hissed softly in return to the Leafeon's greeting. As the Roserade approached the Seviper dipped his head, the snake always held an interesting sense of respect towards a fellow poison type.
"I'm sorry about my Ninetales. She's... She's not herself at the moment."

In reaction to the Ninetails' snarling, Leona tensed in confusion, readying a Leafwhistle just in case. She never did like fighting, thus only had one legitimate attack move, but she would defend herself when necessary. Bri muttered under her breath, giving what sound almost like a protective warning. But when the Pokémon was returned to her ball, the two Grass-types calmed again, Leona giving a more proper, cheery greeting to the Seviper. Bri dipped her head as well to the snake, smiling sweetly, but the tense look in her eyes remained. Neither understood what was wrong with the vixen.
Watching the actions before him, Drevlin managed a slightly carefree smile. "No harm done. I'm sure there are reasons that more than likely aren't any of my business." He forced a small chuckle, then held his hand out to the fellow trainer. "I'm Drevlin." He was never good with introductions; no matter how hard he tried, he always managed to sound at least a little awkward to his own ears. Unless, of course, he was meeting a contest or battle opponent. Jackal called his own greeting, grinning widely.

Evie didn't like how other pokemon were frightened or wary of her own, it never used to be that way. Seviper at least was doing his best to ease the tension with his friendly behaviour with Roserade and Leafeon, not so long ago the Vulpix she knew would have loved them too. Oh well. Evie was at least pleased that the trainer understood that the complexity of the issue wasn't worth delving into, especially not on an introduction! She was grateful, she didn't want to have to relive it all to someone else just yet.
He held out his hand, she offered a small smile and took his hand to shake, "I'm glad you understand. I'm Evie, a coordinator. At least. I used to be." She withdrew her hand quickly, "I guess you could say I'm on a bit of a break." Evie chuckled with a nervous smile. She left out the part that she was desperately trying to scrape the unity of her team back together. Evie cursed herself, dammit, why couldn't she be happier like she used to be?

Drevlin's smile came more easily now. "It's nice to meet you, Evie. A coordinator? That's cool. I'm a bit of a mix between a contest participant and a battler, contests being my specialty." The large Flygon suddenly chortled something, then nudged his trainer impatiently, still grinning. The teen chuckled, patting his friend's nose. "Sorry, someone's getting finicky...Evie, this is Jackal. He's my oldest friend on the team." Another excited cry left Jackal's mouth and Drevlin smirked. "He says it's nice to meet you."
Bri and Leona looked to be having a relatively pleasent conversation with their new acquaintance, Bri talking the most--and the loudest between herself and the Leafeon--and Leona simply spoke when she was addressed or wanted to make a comment about what was said.

Evie smiled at him, “Maybe sometime in the future we’ll be facing each other in a contest. I’d like that.” She admitted that she loved to meet opponents before going to a contest; but with her team feeling a bit dulled around the edges it wasn’t going to be the case for a little while, not until Ninetales could come to trust her again. It just wouldn’t feel right.
A genuine grin spread across her lips when Drevlin introduced her to his Flygon, it reminded her of Tobias’ Flygon; she was sure the gym leader would love to see Jackal, he was a fine specimen for a dragon! Evie was impressed. “Hello Jackal.” She smiled, then looked to Drevlin for permission as she held out a hand to the dragon, “Is it alright if I pet him?” She asked, if allowed she’d go to gently press her palm onto Jackal’s head, using her thumb to soothingly tease the skin. “Seeing dragons like this so close makes me want to train one, but I don’t think I’m strong enough to be able to tame one.”

"That would be great!" Drevlin's full-fledged grin returned. "But I worn you, Miss Thorn-in-Her-Side tends to pout if she loses." He busted out laughing when he heard the exclaim from Bri. "Just kidding, honey! You know I know you're the best!" A response with the tone of "you better be" came in return. When inquired about petting Jackal, both the teen and his Flygon nodded. "Have at it. He's a social butterfly."
Jackal snorted at the comment, but stretched out his neck and put his head in the other trainer's reach. He sighed contentedly at the soothing touch.
"Oh, they're not too hard to train if you get the right one." Drevlin smirked. "I got Jackal here as a baby Trapinch. By the time he evolved into a Vibrava, we were the best of friends, so it wasn't a horrid challenge. I think the only real difficulty was getting him to quit horsing around long enough to teach him some stuff when he was in a mischievous mood. I'm sure you'd do a great job if you wanted to get a Dragon-type."

Evie let a laugh escape her, a proper laugh, something she hadn't done since the poaching incident. "Oh it's the same with my Purrloin, Selene. She's not a good loser." She chuckled, then figured that the cat pokemon didn't get nearly enough face time; so unhooked the ball from her satchel, "Selene, come and say hello!" In a flash of light, the vain purple cat appeared at her feet. She stretched and yawned loudly, then seemed to take immediate interest in Leona. The feline moved forward to circle the Leafeon and meowed loudly, her eyes sly and cunning.
The coordinator giggled, "Although it looks like she's sizing her up. That's Selene's strange way of saying she wants to make friends." She explained, Selene was easily the most proud of her Pokemon. Evie then shrugged at the thought of getting a dragon from when they were a baby, "Maybe. I tend to find that I have a knack with snakes, shame there's not more around really." Almost on cue, the Seviper bumped its head against Evie's arm, she smiled and scratched under his chin.
"So Drevlin, where're you headed? Or're you just out grinding?"

Seeing the Purrloin, Drevlin's eyes sparked with interest. "Well, I don't blame her. She sure is a beaut." He chuckled lightly when Leona slouched slightly at being looked over. She had a more hardy nature, but she was a bit shy at the same time. The Leafeon, after realizing it wasn't a challenge or something, mewled cheerily.
"Snakes are great Pokémon." He nodded, raising a hand to pat Jackal on his neck. "Although, while snakes like you, dragons like me." He motioned to the two large breeds a few yards behind him, still holding their own conversation. "Those two were real pains to raise. Hardheads, the both of them."
At the inquiry, he smirked. "Well, it's more of getting used to our surroundings. None of my buddies here are used to this territory or the area, so I thought we could just practice some techniques and such and see what we could do. What about you?"

Evie laughed, "Thank you. Hear that Selene? You're getting complemented." Her tone was as if she were trying to explain to a child, mocking the proud Purrloin that understood the strange sense of humour; but that was what was required with the quirky cat. The Purrloin walked to brush herself up against Drevlin's leg to acknowledge him, then went back to mewing with Leona.
Ares had snuck his way into Evie's arms like an over affectionate child, her hands almost instinctively over the new round scar that marred his scales, the feeling made her cold; she quickly withdrew her touch. "See, that's why I couldn't raise a dragon. I'm struggling as it is with a moody Ninetales, I wouldn't have a chance with pokemon like those two." She chuckled, although if Evie could break Ninetales' distrust; maybe she could?
"That sounds fair. I was just trying to bond again with Aphrodite. Since she evolved she just hasn't been the same. So I figured bringing her back to the place where it happened might trigger something. I'm not sure really." She shrugged, "you wouldn't mind me tagging along, would you? I doubt my efforts are gonna make much of a difference, she's still sour."

As the cat rubbed against him, Drevlin leaned down and let his fingertips barely brush her head, chuckling heartily when the Purrloin went back to Leona. "Looks like the baby of the family's got a new friend." His tone was light but his smile wasn't sarcastic; an easy signal he was being quite literal. "I've had Leona for about two years now. I just recently got a new baby...." He blinked, realizing he hadn't brought out the Sapler yet. "Oh, for the love of..." Reaching into an extra pocket on his belt he took out one last Pokéball, releasing his newest friend. Almost immediately, the little cat had flung itself into his arms, mewling and purring. "This is Trystan." He laughed cheerfully, rubbing the Sapler's head.
He slowly nodded at Evie's words. "Well, it all depends on their natures. Bri's an impish little troublemaker, but she turned out easy because of how I went about it; now she's a spoiled supposed-queen--or at least, that's what she thinks, but I love her, anyway. But I can understand your reasoning. You're more than welcome to tag along. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one enjoying the company of a new friend." Jackal grinned and gave an affirmative.

The moment the little grass type was released Evie's eyes widened with wonder, "Oh my! He's adorable!" She had never seen anything like him before, Evie had heard the professor had come into the knowledge of new pokemon; enough to let Kansai have their own starter pokemon! Evie never thought she'd have the chance to see one so soon, "He's such a darling, I'm guessing you got him from the professor?" She asked, reaching out to stroke Sapler's head. He was so sweet! Selene mrowed with some jealousy.
Evie grinned, pleased he understood and would allow her to go with him. "I suppose its only fair if the others came out... I'll keep Aphrodite out of the picture though, I don't want her causing trouble." With that, the rest of her team were let out; the smug looking Servine, the stunning Milotic and finally the giddy looking Gligar. "Drake, Persephone, George. Meet Drevlin and his pokemon." She smiled.

"Isn't he?" Drevlin agreed, still grinning widely. "He makes me act like a mama. It's really funny."
<That's because you are a mama.> Jasper growled playfully, earning him a light, playful smack upside the head.
"I am not, Jackal!" The teen laughed, getting a nudge from his Flygon accompanied by a sort of laughing sound. "Did I forget to mention that Jackal is probably the most sarcastic Pokémon you could ever meet? The thing he says..." The last words were directed to Evie, Drevlin shaking his head lightly. "And, to answer your question, yes; I got Trystan from the professor about four days ago and he's already part of the family. Leona's definitely taken a liking to him..."
Upon seeing the rest of Evie's team, he smiled brightly and waved, his own Pokémon giving their own greetings. "That's a nice team you've got." Drevlin smirked.
