(This is a 'parallel' RP to the Pokemon Parade, this is the backstage area where only the Gym Leaders, Champions and press are chilling whilst everyone's getting seated in the stadium Please continue posting in the other thread though with your other characters!) "Ah Professor Verity, I don't believe I've spoken to you in person yet," Brooke turned and heaved an absolutely massive sigh of relief as Soren came to her rescue. Her hand was taken and kissed, such a gentleman! Glad to see chivalry wasn’t dead. Brooke gave him a wide smile when he showed interest in her work before they went inside and saw as Elle tottled off in a disgruntled manner to be intercepted by Ignus, phew, good distraction; now she could talk to some decent company instead of that babbling reporter. She sincerely hoped that Jack wouldn’t end up like that. “Soren Forberg, it’s wonderful meeting you properly for the first time.” She chuckled, then nodded “Of course! I’d be happy too, lately myself and Lorna McKinley have been tracking the dragon types of Kansai, see if we can learn more about what makes them tick. We recently hit a rock though... I don’t know if you saw the news about the transmission tower? It was destroyed before we could see who it belonged too, but I can’t help but feel something sinister is upon us; the Flygon and Vibrava were going insane because of that tower...” Brooke sighed and shook her head, running a hand through her hair, “I just hope that we won’t see anything like that again... Anyway, enough of my rambling, how goes your travels Soren?”"Hello, Professor Verity. Nice day for a parade, huh? And you must be Soren Forberg. I am Ignus Draco, it's nice to meet you." Brooke was still irritated that Ignus had destroyed the tower, her team had been deciphering the photos since the incident and they found it to be markless; nothing gave who made it away. Alas, on such a fine day, Brooke could put a grudge aside. “Indeed it is, I was worried, only a few days ago they forecasted rain. We’re very lucky. If you two will excuse me... Thank you.” Brooke broke away from the group to go and see Tobias, who was calming down a disgruntled looking Electabuzz, “Tobias Clarke yes? I’m Professor Verity.” She had finally managed to get around to calling herself that, instead of introducing herself by her first name; the amount of times she’d been told off for that! “Is your Electabuzz alright? I hope he doesn’t get stage fright.” She chuckled, then fished out a small case from her pocket and opened it, taking out a small green block and handing it to the electric Pokémon, it was Pokéblock. “That oughta help.” She grinned.

Lumine looked around at all the important people, her eyes resting on Ignus a few times, seeing him talking to one of the roaming Gym Leaders, and seeing the Pokemon Professor Brooke Verity talking with him, then walking off to talk to Tobias Clark, another roaming Gym Leader. She then started to feel nervous, the chills creeping up her spine, her Simipour Panpei trying to calm her down by patting her knee.
"It's fine, Panpei, just a little nervous." Her heart then sagged when she noticed Lorna McKinley sitting a ways from her, giving her a wave and a smile before diving into her food, the Typhlosion behind her looking a little tempted. A Typhlosion, huh? She then looked at Ignus, who was still talking with Soren, his face looking relaxed and contempt. Lumine sighed, and ran her hand through her white-blonde hair, her Simipour letting out a sigh. "Don't worry, Panpei: we shouldn't interrupt Ignus while he's speaking with others. It's rude. Perhaps we should wait until we're called upon. Also..." Her brown eyes looked over at Lorna, and then whispered, "I hope I do well in my battle today."

((Faaack sorry, would've gotten on the ball sooner but I was on the road all day))
Soren frowned slightly as Professor Verity related the tale of the transmission tower and the effect it had on the dragons. He'd seen reports but he hadn't realized the seriousness of the situation. He glanced over his shoulder at the mention of Lorna McKinley - well if she was collaberating with Brooke there was probably little cause for concern. He knew both women were formidible in their own rights, but together...well he pitied the fool who'd tempt the tempers of the two Champions.
"Same old game I suppose, I might have to think of retiring soon, Sarra's been getting on my case -" he said jokingly, however he never got much further before Ignus stepped in and introduced himself. He could sense a slight irritation from the Professor and idly wondered what had happened, but she appeared to hold no real grudge, politely saying hello before moving on to talk to Tobias Clarke. He watched her go feeling somewhat disappointed things had been cut short. Soren turned to Ignus and stared down his nose at the younger man, slightly irked that he'd inturrupted his conversation with the lovely young woman - he was quite interested in the dragon story. "Hmm yes, a pleasure I'm sure," he drawled, habitually adjusting his cravat.

Ignus could feel the irritation coming from Soren, as he felt a little guilty about cutting his conversation short with Brooke. Feeling nervous, he began scratching the back of his head."Um...I apologize if I interrupted your chat with the Professor. You see, there is a perfectly good explanation as to why she looked irritated with me. Ah, but anyway, it's nice to actually meet you for the first time. I hope to battle you one day, Mr. Forberg. Now, if you'll excuse me..."
Ignus bowed politely to Soren before moving on. Great...just great, Ignus! Ah, if it starts raining today, that will just complete my misfortune! Raining... Ignus noticed his hand starting to shake, his breathing feeling ragged, feeling sweat on his forehead. No, no, Ignus...don't let your emotions get in the way! Don't remember that day, don't remember... It was too late. Images began flashing through his mind, blurred and unable to depict, however Ignus could tell what they reminded him of, making his breathing more ragged.
He was then brought back to earth by seeing Lumine, adjusting himself correctly, and walked over to her, hoping that her company would help calm him down. After all, Ignus and Lumine had been friends for years, and their Pokemon always got along with each other. Ignus' Blastoise Baron noticed his expression and helped him over to a nearby chair next to Lumine, her Simipour greeting Ignus and Baron as usual. "Why, hello there Lumine. I didn't know you were in Kansai."

She was right about the coffee. It was exactly what Tamsin needed, and now she was really in the mood for a good battle. They didn't start until the hour, and Tamsin's fight wasn't until round 2 so she had a while to wait, but even watching one would be enough.
Now all the noise from outside was on the other side of a brick wall Tamsin could hear herself think. Down to the bare minimum of people, the room looked almost empty. Maybe she could try to socialise? She saw Lorna munching down on a plate of food, and thought he'd head over for a chat.
"Hey, Lorna," Tamsin said cheerily as she took the chair next to Lorna. "Psyched for the battles? You're up first aren't you?"

Lorna flashed Tamsin a grin as she took a seat next to her. "Oh hey Tamsin. Yeah I'm first up against ah - Lumine Divina I believe her name is...admittedly I haven't really kept up on all the new Champions since I stopped training as a profession." the pokemon biologist admitted, blushing slightly in her embaressment. Immediately taking advantage of his trainer's distraction Typhlosion lunged forwar and deftly snapped the bagel from her grasp, swalloing it with a wicked grin. Lorna shot her wayward pokemon a glare. "Keep it up and you'll be too fat to fight!"
Typhlosion growled and did what came naturally when he wanted to get back in his master's good graces. He lumbered forward and draped his head on her shoulder, wrapping his muscular arms around her from behind with an odd crooning noise as he quite literally gave her a bear hug. There were several dull cracks from Lorna's back but she didn't seem upset when her partner released her, rather she gave him an affectionate pat on the head and winked at Tamsin. "Well that'll align the old vertebrae. Gotta say I'm pretty pumped for this, I think anyone here could definately give me a good smackdown and I'm supposed to be the veteran," she chuckled, referring of course to her age. "Well next to Soren of course, quite the odd man I'll admit. What about you? Excited for your match?"

Tobias chuckled as the professor spoke of his Electabuzz, smiling as it gladly accepted the pokeblock. He held out his hand to her smiling. "A pleasure and an honour professor." He said gently shaking her hand as he reached up with the other and ran his hand down Electabuzz's back. "He doesn't get stage fright." He continued smiling sweetly. "He is just a little... protective..." He added, pausing half way to think of the right word.
He looked to his pokemon for a moment before returning his gaze to the professor, his spiky hair flicking as he moved his head, "Im sorry to gush but I have seen your battle style, your technique is amazing." He said chuckling, "I hope I get to battle you in the tournament, but I doubt I will get that far." He said with a wink.

"Why, hello there, Lumine. I didn't know you were in Kansai."
Lumine immediately looked over to the source of the voice, and sure enough, Ignus was sitting right next to her, her face blushing slightly. "Ah, h-hello, Ignus. You scared me a little...ah, and hello to you too Baron." Lumine smiled up at the Blastoise hovering over Ignus, but was eyeing the table of food with envy. Lumine giggled, and then turned back to look at Ignus, who was trying to smile, and her face immediately changed into a look of worry. "What's wrong, Ignus? You don't look so good...ah, but then I must be imagining things. You're always feeling well, right? Anyways, I heard the news that you were fighting a Gym Leader and the Pokemon Professor herself. Ah, you're so lucky! I wish you good luck in your battles, Ignus!"
Lumine kept smiling, Panpei looking at her and Ignus curiously. "I have to fight Lorna McKinley...to be honest, I'm a little nervous...so, wish me luck, okay?"

Brooke took Tobias’ hand and grinned when they shook, “Oh, the pleasure is all mine.” She insisted, then diverted her gaze to Electabuzz; placing her hands on her hips with a chuckle, “Protective? Don’t worry Electabuzz, Tobias is safe in here, we all are.”
She made a sort of surrending hand gesture, “Really? Naw, it’s so risky, I’m just surprised my Pokémon trust me enough to go through with it.” Waiting until the last minute then attacking to catch the enemy off guard was extremely risky, but it worked. It’s what got her her two Championships. Brooke gave Tobias a reassuring smile, “That would be great, I’ve never seen you battle before Tobias so I look forward to that.” she’d give him a pat on the shoulder, “You’ll be great! You’re one of the toughest Gym Leaders in the entire world!” She laughed.

Tobias shrugged in response, blushing slightly at such a compliment. "I wouldn't go as far as to say that..." He said shuffling his feet slightly now, Electabuzz looking shocked at his trainers actions, used to seeing Tobias full of confidence in his ability.
He smiled when she spoke of him battling, the thoughts of the upcoming battles revving him up slightly. "Well as you know I specialise in Special Attack training, but the usage of that is that keep a distance then can go in for the full frontal attacks when they least expect it." He said, feeling himself go into his comfort zone again at the thought of battling. "We also try to turn someone's advantage into a week-point, for example counteracting a fast pokemon with double team, because they are fast they are normally reckless and have lower accuracy." He flashed her a confident grin. "And if all ells fails, we have a little secret weapon encase we get into a rough patch don't we Electabuzz." He said chuckling as his pokemon nodded and smiled in agreement.

Ignus felt comfortable being around Lumine...but then again, they've been friends for 7 years. When asked if he was feeling well, Ignus' face stopped smiling, and he looked down at the floor. Lumine...you were always good at one thing: reading me like a book. "Ah, its nothing, just feeling a little under the weather. I sure hope it doesn't rain...and, thank you, Lumine." [/color] Ignus then wrapped a shoulder around his friend, feeling more at peace from all the negativity he was exposed to the past few days.
Ignus perked up when Lumine said that she was fighting Lorna McKinley. Ignus' face looked worried as he looked at Lumine, hoping that she didn't get nervous right before her first match. Last time that happened, she nearly fainted from the pressure. He already knew the temper that Lorna and Brooke had, and he was unfortunate enough to get on their bad side after only two days of being in Kansai...especially since he was the one who destroyed the tower, thus halting their investigation. However, Ignus didn't tell them that destroying the tower meant freeing the dragon Pokemon, and he saw that as the only way. Besides, as Lorna said to him, there weren't any identification markers to trace back to the original owner, which meant that the investigation hit a dead end. But that wasn't what worried him. What made him have shivers was the fact that he was fighting Brooke first.
"Well, Lumine, it's okay to be nervous. I'm nervous too. Good luck with your battle today. And also..." He then gripped Lumine and turned her towards him, his bright blue eyes serious. "I don't care if you win or not. Just try and do your best, okay? Baron looked at both of them, first at Ignus, then Lumine, then back to Ignus, and shook his head, sighing deeply.

The relationship that Lorna had with her Pokemon made Tamsin chuckle. Tamsin barely ever walked around with her Pokemon, and seeing the Champion act like this made her feel like she needed to do it more.
"What about you? Excited for your match?" Lorna asked. Tamsin replied with a nod, smiling. "Definitely! I haven't tournament battled properly before, so this is going to be something else entirely."
She picked up a sandwich triangle and took a bite. It was full of a rich, creamy cheese and some sort of crunchy vegetable. It was good!
"But I do have to wait a while. Do you reckon they'll get all the fights done in a day? It seems like a lot!"

Nyght finished his snack and looked around once more. Everyone seemed to be here, which was good.
As soon as they began to socialize, Nyght felt a little out of place. He wasn't anti-social or anything, but he was not used to being among his own league of trainers.
Figuring he should make the most of it, he wandered over to where Tamsin and Lorna stood talking. "Pardon my interupting, but I have not met either of you lovely ladies before, and figured it was time to make acquaintance," he said with a small bow of respect. Are you both ready for the battle? They sound like they're almost done seating everyone."

"I dunno, everyone's pretty well on par so these matches will be anything but predictable," Lorna grinned. "It'll be exciting for sure. I can't wait to see you battle, I've always wanted to see how you use your Defense stat in a fight!"
The Johto veteran felt a shiver as the Butterfrees in her stomach fluttered. Ha, she hadn't been this antsy for a battle in a long time. Lumine was a lot younger than she was, but she had two Champion titles under her belt where as Lorna had only acquired one before hanging up her trainer's cap. Still, she had faith in her pokemon and it was a pretty even match up so it should be fun either way. She looked at everyone, mentally comparing them to their opponents. Brooke and Ignus - damn that was going to be a show for sure! Ignus had strength that was obvious but Brooke was one of the craftiest trainers she'd ever seen. Soren would be facing Tobias which didn't bode well for the Speed leader. She knew he favoured flying-types where Tobias had some fearsome electric pokemon. Tamsin was going against Nyght -
"Pardon my interupting, but I have not met either of you lovely ladies before, and figured it was time to make acquaintance," he said with a small bow of respect. Are you both ready for the battle? They sound like they're almost done seating everyone."
Lorna smiled widely at Nyght. She hadn't really spoken to him much, but she saw how he'd handled the rabid reporters and took an instant liking to the young man. She shook his hand with a crooked grin. "Lorna McKinley, nice to meet you."

"Ladies and Gentlemen, there has been a change in our program; the first match will now be Ignus Draco vs Brooke Verity, the battle between Lumine Divina and Lorna McKinley will take place afterwards."
Ignus' spirits then sank when the announcement came through the backstage area. Hopefully he would have used the time with Lumine's match with Lorna to straighten things out with Brooke about the tower incident. However, it seemed, according to Ignus, that fate had intervened once more against him. Sighing heavily, he felt his Blastoise's arm on his shoulder, and looking up, noticed that Baron was not worried, but looked happy, the giant turtle Pokemon looking pumped up. Ignus smiled, and got up from his chair, looked towards Lumine, and said, "Well, Lumine, it appears that you've been given some more time to come up with a game plan. Use this time wisely, as your fight will come later. <sigh> Well, I'm off." He waved happily to Lumine before his smile faded, along with his cheery nature, and his more serious side came to the surface.
"Baron, my friend, I don't necessarily care about fate or anything like that. You know that right?" Baron grunted in reply with excitement, making Ignus grin with excitement. "Well, good, I need you and the others to be at your prime. You all know the game plan: We're facing a former Pokemon Champion, not to mention somewhat of a Dragon Tamer. Despite this, we need to expect anything that comes our way. So don't hold back, no matter what!"
Ignus then couldn't help but let out a bit of a laugh, causing some reporters to look at him as if he heard a funny joke. But that wasn't it. The only thing to make Ignus laugh was the expectations of a fight so intense to make his blood boil with excitement.
