Lorna swore violently when a sandstorm ripped through their small clearing, tearing at the tents and blinding all of them. The biologist could hear Evie's frantic "return" and she felt her heart sink.
When the sandstorm finally subsided her worst fears were confirmed. Evie was standing by herself with a heartbroken expression, clutching an empty pokeball. See this is why she'd wanted to keep things calm and quiet - less mistakes would be made. That being said she couldn't be mad at the young coordinator, she'd taken a liking to her early on and right now her heart went out to the poor girl. Lorna sighed and placed her belongs back into her satchel (after she'd emptied out the sand of course) and slung it over her shoulder. She nodded as Lumine tried to comfort the younger woman. "She's right Evie, we'll get Aphrodite back I promise and you can have a turn beating the living shit out of whoever's responsible once I'm done with him," she said with a humourless smile. "Come on all pack up your gear and let's move out."

Jack was stunned. Where the hell the Vulpix gone? And who the hell were we beating the shit out of? And how the hell was there a sandstorm in a forest?!
"I'm really sorry! I'm sorry! Sorry!" Jack stammered, holding his arms in the air as if she was holding a gun. He still wasn't entirely sure what he'd done wrong, but Evie was definitely upset, and he couldn't pretend that everything was ok. He shook his head, and sand that had caught in his hair flew out onto the ground. His scalp was itchy. This was a bad day.
"What's going on?"

William was awake in his shelter when the sandstorm ripped through the camp sight, ripping his shelter from its bindings and cutting it to shreds. He covered his eyes from the raging storm, only just hearing Evie's words over the sound of the storm. He slowly stood and walked to the reporter, sand falling from him with ever step.
"There is a Pokemon Poacher operating in these parts who we believe to be in the possession of a Snag Machine. He has now stolen three of our pokemon. We have been trying to track him down but its like trying to catch a god damn Gastly."
William paused for a moment as he brushed his coat down. "Keep your pokemon in their pokeballs..." He finished with before picking up his pack, leaving the now useless shelter behind. He looked around for a moment to get his bearings then started walking in the direction of the tower. "Moss grows on the north side of trees, so we want to be going this way..." He said over his shoulder.

Zeke had managed to sleep through the majority of the proceedings, completely missing Evie's screaming at Jack's appearance. All that had happened to him was that a monster had suddenly appeared in his dreams and Arthur had started shrieking in a very womanly manner. Truthfully, in his dream it hadn't seemed that much out of character.
He only jerked awake as a sandstorm tore through the camp, tugging desperately at their tent in an effort to uproot everything and cause the maximum level of chaos possible. Zeke's eyes slowly opened, blearily, before he registered the full scale of the commotion and bolted upright, mind still processing and slotting everything into place. All body parts felt present and accounted for, yes there was an Arthur snuggled up to him, no that wasn't a problem, yes the tent looks scarily derelict, yes they should probably get out, there was yelling, and it seemed like help was needed. Zeke pulled Arthur up before clambering out of their tent like the unco-ordinated fawn. He had to pause upon being greeted by the scene of utmost devastation. This was ridiculous. It didn't take long to work out quite what had happened.
Zeke shifted closer to Evie, carefully pulling her into a hug, murmuring "It's going to be okay, we're going to get Aphrodite back, alright? Then we'll, I don't know, kick the poacher or something. That's what you do, right?" He glanced at Jack over Evie's shoulder, looking utterly confused. "... who're you? Seriously, does this forest breed people? Every time I disappear a new person has app-" It took him far too long to notice Seth. "The forest is breeding people!"

The sudden sandstorm put Seth into a panic mode, but in a safe way. Since he was already sitting, he held his hands up to his nose and mouth and put his head in his legs, protecting his diseased airway from the sand.
It was over quickly, but Seth only reemerged to dread. Evie's Vulpix had been snatched. Seth swore.
Seth wasn't sure who to reassure first- Jack or Evie. Evie was distraught, and jack was beyond confused. It helped that someone was helping both out, though Seth had no idea who he was.
"Take it easy, whoever-you-are," Seth said calmly. "The name's Seth. I arrived last night, as did Jack." he nodded his head in his friend's direction.
He noticed how upset Evie was, and headed over to her. He wanted to give her a big hug, but Zeke had already beaten him to it, so he put a nervous hand on her shoulder. He wanted more than anything to make her feel better, but was unsure how.
"Hey, don't worry too much. We'll get Aphrodite back. I mean, Quilava would be real mad if we didn't come back with his best friend," he grinned goofily, gosh he was so bad at this!
Out of the corner of his eye, Seth saw William heading out. Seth looked down at himself and realized he was still only in pajama pants.
"I know this is kind of a bad time to stall, but can a guy at least put on a shirt in these woods??" he yelled, embarrassed to have been caught off guard. On his way back to his tent, he passed Jack.
"Welcome to the search party, mate. This is about as exciting as it's been so far," he said sarcastically.

Evie was grateful for the reassurance and found herself clinging slightly to Zeke as he offered her a hug, she blubbered like a little baby; her Vulpix meant the world to her! But the moment when Lorna and Zeke mentioned violence against the poacher she tore away, "I'll kill him!" She growled, her expression showing that.. she probably would. If she had the chance, probably not. She's too much of a sissy, still, she took up on the idea of at least getting a foot into the ribcage if she could.
She drew in a sharp breath to try and calm herself down, then looked between Lumine, Zeke and Seth, "Thank you.." She muttered, then disappeared back into her tent to get dressed. Only a few moments later, because she's good like that, she was back out again and ready to leave.

This was a very odd group of people. God knows how they all got roped in, but Jack had actually met very few of them. He new Seth and Evie, and he'd met Lorna a few days ago back at the Lab, but the others were all new and exciting. He also had no idea what a snag machine was, but there was definitely a story in it somewhere.
"Hey!" Jack was distracted, recognising one of the others from the parade. "I saw you back in Silverfern, at the Tournament! Weren't you the weird guy with the Chandelure on a leash? I'm Jack."
Seth's comment made Jack smile. "We can liven things up a bit."

William stopped at Seth's shout for him to hold up. He sighed slightly before turning to face the others, waiting for them to get ready before they could set out. He brought his hand up to his face, squeezing the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger as Jack spoke to Zeke about the missing pokemon. Ok, the man was a little uninformed. He walked over to him and placed his hand on the shorter man's shoulder, using it to guide him away from the rest of the group slightly.
"Zeke's Chandelure was the first of the pokemon to get snagged. Then Lorna's Dragonite, and now Evie's Vulpix. Be careful what you say as there is a lot of raw nerves."

Arthur brought his hand up to cover his mouth as he yawned into it sleepily. He started rubbing at his eyes to get the nasty sleeping gunk off, then looked around the camp with a grim look on his face. Everyone seemed to be going crazy. Someone was crying, someone was running around excitedly, and some people were just standing around, like himself, in the midst of all this commotion. Zeke was off hugging the crying one, so Arthur was being ignored at the moment, and that annoyed him. He would of made a massive deal out of it, but he was too tired to really care about anything apart from finding something to eat. And putting some clothes on, as he was still in his Jolly Roger boxers.
He quickly grabbed his coat from inside the tent, then went to see what all the fuss was about. He checked himself over quickly in a little compact mirror he kept in his coat pocket, and saw his hair was a mess. He shoved his tricorn on top of his hair to hide his serious case of bed head, and waltzed over to William, he seemed the calmest and most likely to give a coherent answer. "Oi, Fancy pants, what's shivering everyones timbers?"

Lumine nodded with a smile, and walked back into her tent, packing up everything and coming out to pack up her tent, still thinking about who was next to have their Pokemon snagged. After packing up the tent and as she put her Ranger's vest on over her shirt, she looked down at the Pokeballs on her belt, a calm but solemn look on her face. All of her Pokemon were still there, but who knows how long before she makes a mistake and accidentally lets one out to be caught by the poacher...
She shook her head, and finished packing up her stuff into her backpack, setting it one her shoulders, ready to get going. She looked over at Evie, who was now showing a look of pure anger, saying she wanted to kill the poacher...and Lumine agreed with the coordinator. She would have said that if one of her Pokemon had gotten stolen, and the Pokemon Ranger looked in the direction of the tower that William described, her eyes narrowed. Soon then...we'll be able to find him, get the Pokemon back, and then beat the life out of that poacher!
Thinking of nothing else to do, Lumine walked over to the edge of the campsite with her backpack on her shoulders, waiting for everyone else to get their stuff packed up.

William chuckled at how Arthur addressed him. This was coming from a man who dressed as a Pirate. "A quick synopsis, Jack arrives late last night and climbs into Evie's tent thinking it was Seth's. When she wakes up she use her Vulpix to kick him out the tent, sandstorm fills the area, Vulpix gets snagged." He sighed looking to the ground for a moment then looking back up to Arthur. He lowered his voice so that only Arthur could hear him. "Between you and me mate, I dont know quite how we are going to get the pokemon back. Snag machines make a pokemon's loyalties change. They are his pokemon now." Arthur wasn't stupid, a dick sometimes maybe, but not stupid, he had probably worked this out himself. He looked over to the others smiling sadly. "But Im working on a plan." He muttered, his eyes almost flaring at the thought of the challenge ahead. William liked to put his mind to challenges as well as his pokemon.
He looked back to the pirate once more taking in what he was wearing. "Nice boxers..." He added grinning slightly.

Zeke held Evie close, trying to comfort her as best he could. They were going to destroy that poacher, he would make sure of it. At her threats of violence, he couldn't help but chuckle nervously. She actually looked quite scary like that. Oh dear. It didn't take him long to run back into the tent and change, considering that most of his outfits consisted of what looked like a whirlwind colliding with a wardrobe. He pulled at his sleeves, trying to straighten them out, before smiling at Seth. "Hello! Nice to meet you, I'm Zeke." Zeke held out his hand for a hand shake, grinning. More people, and they weren't apparently tree people. More people meant more of a force, right? Once he'd had his hand shook, he whirled on Jack. "W-weird guy? Is that- ... well, I suppose? And yes, uh... mm." Zeke paused, sighing quietly. "Esme was on the leash..." It took him a moment before he smiled again, holding his hand out for Jack. "Nice to meet you too!" There wasn't much point on dwelling on stuff at this point, wasn't going to save the Pokemon any quicker. Besides, they all seemed like nice enough people. Zeke glanced over at Arthur, smiling at him and his interactions with others.

"When she wakes up she uses her Vulpix to kick him out the tent, sandstorm fills the area, Vulpix gets snagged." Seriously, do these people never learn? Arthur slapped the palm of his hand onto his face out of frustration. People call him thick, at least he had the sense to put his Chatot, Elisa back into her pokéball when pokémon started getting snagged. Even if his left shoulder is feeling colder than usual,it was worth it to keep her safe.
"Between you and me mate, I dont know quite how we are going to get the pokemon back. Snag machines make a pokemon's loyalties change. They are his pokemon now." Arthur felt that the poacher deserved them. If these people could continually ignore the concept of 'don't get your bloody pokémon out or they will be taken' Then maybe they are unfit to care for them. Arthur may not care for people much, but he sincerely cares for his pokémon, and he would lay his life down to protect them. He doesn't even battle that often because he doesn't want them to get hurt. These people... they treated their pokémon as tools, and put them in vulnerable positions, and that sickens Arthur. If the poacher was taking good care of them, then in Arthur's eyes, he can keep them. Well, maybe he could give the damn Chandelure back, but that was it! Arthur mumbled "Good." to himself as William addressed the others.
"Nice boxers..." Arthur's head shot up as he glared at William. The pirate then did his coat up and crossed his arms over his chest, feeling violated. "Pervert!" He yelled and stormed off to go and get some proper clothes on, vaguely aware that Zeke was smiling at him for no reason. He scowled in response before zipping the tent flaps up. Didn't want William to 'accidentally' walk in on him now.

Lorna snorted like an angry Tauros - she was not fond of the dilly dallying, although Arthur calling William a pervert did make her lips twitch in the smallest of smiles. Still, they needed to get going - the longer that poacher had their pokemon, the harder it was going to be to get them back. She absent mindedly rested a hand on her Typhlosion's pokeball and was not surprised to find it very hot to the touch, as if the fire-type had realized what was going on and was fuming within the small red and white capsule.
"It's okay mate, we'll get our buddy back I promise," she said quietly. Again she felt irritation at their slowness well up and she all but barked out at everyone. "Come on! Get your arses in gear now - We've got work to do!"

And so, after a short while, the group were back on the move.
Evie was quiet, with a bitter expression on her face; it didn't look like she fancied talking to anyone any time soon. It wouldn't be long now until they found something, surely? The jungle was horrifically quiet and she hated that, the Pokemon must be so frightened of whatever the poacher was doing - they must have all left, or they had been captured. She daren't think of what they might be put through if they were captured.
She also did her best to avoid thinking about Aphrodite, what dreadful things the poacher could be doing to her and the other Pokemon he snatched. Evie bit her lip, then looked forward towards William, "How long now William? It feels like we've been walking forever.." Of course, they hadn't actually been walking that long, Evie figured it was just the weight of losing a friend. She wished she could be as upbeat as Zeke - who was just focusing ahead of them, unfortunately, she was bearing a grudge as worse than a Ninetales.
