((I'll go if you like, just for a reaction post also Ignus git yer arse in gear b'y we needs ya to post XP)) Soren stroked his jaw thoughtfully as he stared at the two pokemon standing out on the field. Professor Verity did have a type advantage with Ignus' pokemon being an ice-type, but Piloswine was capable of ground type moves that could sevrely hurt Ninetails. If the Professor was careful, however, she could pull of a win. Piloswine seemed to be nervous as well, sitting out there on the field - something that could swing things in Brooke's favour. Brooke Verity was crafty in her battling, that was obvious, and so was Ignus. At this point it was anyone's match. 'Come on Professor, you can still take this...'Absol wound around his legs for a moment before settling in front of him and staring intently at the vixen, curious and hopeful that the elegant fox-like pokemon could take a win.

(Alright, alright. I was just waiting for everyone to post. Okay...) Ignus stood there, waiting silently. Down below in the arena, Typhon let out a nervous squeak as Brooke's Ninetales made its entrance in a fireball. Ignus couldn't help but sigh. True, Brooke had the advantage when it came to his Piloswine being an Ice-type, but Piloswines were also considered Ground-types as well. In other words, this last match would decide the winner down to the wire. He then looked over at Professor Brooke one last time, hoping to get some reaction from her. But he then shook his head, and gave his first command: "Typhon, stow away your nerves and start this battle off right. Earthquake."The Piloswine shook its head briefly, and began stomping the ground underneath it, causing the ground to shake and rumble around the arena. Typhon then did one more power stomp, and immediately the whole icy arena broke apart, shards of ice flying into the air. All I have to do is figure out a way to get that Ninetales into the air...the move combination that Garet pulled off during the last matchup isn't the only trick I have up my sleeve...Professor Verity will see why soon enough...

Earthquake, that could be dangerous if Brooke wasn't careful with Ninetales. "Get up high Ninetales!" Brooke ordered and the vixen lept up high to get on top of one of the trees, melting the ice in the process so that it could get a better grip. Ninetale's claws dug deep into the bark as the ground shook to and fro viciously, Ninetales clung on and the ice around the field broke and jostled around and up into the air. Brooke didn't even need to order the next move, with practiced precision, Ninetales shot down each and every shard that got too close with a blast from Flamethrower.
Once the Earthquake had come to an end Ninetales jumped back down to the ground, lowering down on its haunches as it snarled at Piloswine - all nine of its tails swaying from side to side, writhing like snakes. "Now Ninetales, Extrasensory!" Without further ado, Ninetales eyes began to glow gold as it sat back with its front paws in the air. The vixen opened her mouth and from it shot a rainbow covered beam aimed straight at Piloswine. If Ninetales got the hit, she would use the psychic energy to throw Piloswine as high as she could, before flinging it down into the field again.

Ignus just stood there as the beam got closer and closer. He didn't even have to make a command. Typhon immediately jumped away from the beam as it collided with the ground. Typhon didn't have as much speed as the Ninetales, but Ignus knew if he wanted Typhon to survive, he needed the Piloswine to show no nerves; in Ignus' eyes, showing any weakness at all on the field of battle would mean disastrous consequences. "Typhon, Rock Slide." Ignus kept trying to hide his face, but the cameras were showing it: he was holding back pain, his chest starting to feel heavy, him trying to shake it away.
Typhon, meanwhile, complied with his master's command and began tossing up some of the arena ground in the form of large boulders, then tossing them at the Ninetales. "Now, use Frost Breath!" The Piloswine replied in agreement, and released a jet of arctic-cold air from its mouth, covering some of the boulders with hardened ice, and increasing their velocity as they flew towards the Ninetales.

Brooke frowned when Extrasensory missed, however Ignus' next attack combo was easily dealt with. A grin spread across her face as she shot her hand forward, "Ninetales, Dig!" The boulders flew over head and Ninetails was clipped by one fo them as she dove down into the ground, melting any ice that may still be in the way. Brooke didn't seem to show fear that Ninetales had been hit, as the Frost Breath was avoided as well, but Brooke knew there was danger in another Earthquake, so she would need to be quick.
"Now! Flame Blast!" Brooke ordered, Ninetales was still no where to be seen, but suddenly, behind Piloswine the vixen burst free from the ground like an ancient earth golem and from her mouth a large blast of fire was shot, aimed at Piloswine's back.

Ignus just stood there as the Ninetales dove underground, preparing to give Typhon a command to use Earthquake. But his eyes then widened as the Ninetales shot up out of the ground behind the Piloswine, about to use Fire Blast on Typhon. "Typhon, Ice Beam! Now!" As The Piloswine turned around ready to aim, the Piloswine's eyes widened as the Ice Beam collided with the Fire Blast. But that would only do so much for the Piloswine. Typhon squealed in pain as it skidded across the arena floor, some of its fur burned from the attack, but managing to get rid of most of the Fire move's force.
Nevertheless, Ignus could tell that the Piloswine was in serious pain. And he himself was holding back as much as he could. As soon as the match was over, Ignus could tell that he was going to pass out immediately. The only thing keeping him up was his focus on the battle, and he needed to end this out. "Typhon, it's time to end this! Ice Beam!" The Piloswine had managed to get up, wincing slightly, but let loose another Ice Beam, aiming right at the Ninetales.
C'mon Professor, hurry up...end it...quickly... Ignus' eyes were starting to cloud up, him staggering slightly, but shook it off to focus on how the Professor would react.

((Sorry to post out of sequence but I'm a weee bit confused - why is Ignus going to pass out? >.> he hasn't stated he has a medical condition like Seth and Ignus is a champ several times over so he shouldn't be finding this match particularly strenuous sooo yeah, just curious, did I miss something in the thread? haha ))

(Perhaps I should explain...Ignus is about to have a panic attack due to Brooke being mad at him. He tends to do that a little when his opponent fights him out of anger. That's why he prefers not to have enemies. If you want, I can rewrite it, Lorna, if it's too confusing.)

Too many Ice Beams, it wouldn't do much to Ninetales - she even took the hit on the second attack, being pushed back viciously along the ground. Her fur iced up as she shook it off, her body heat melting the remainders of the attack. Ninetales took a step forward and nearly stumbled, "Easy Ninetales..." Brooke shushed, easing her Pokemon so that it was comfortable. Brooke tried not to look at Ignus, she knew he was panicking - which was how she knew she had this battle.
"Dig, then follow up with Flamethrower!" Brooke barked, Ninetales responding almost immediately, digging underground and this time appearing right before Piloswine's eyes. Flamethrower, point blank.

Ignus could tell the battle was over right then and there. All he could do was stand there as the Ninetales appeared right before Typhon, preparing a Flamethrower to fire at point blank. There was absolutely no escape for the Piloswine this time. As the Flamethrower let loose, Ignus' eyes closed as Typhon was engulfed completely by the flames.
When the flames cleared, Typhon laid there, completely covered in burns, the Piloswine still as a statue. "Piloswine is unable to battle! Brooke Verity, our beloved Professor, takes the battle with the last matchup!" It was after that sentence over the intercom that everything around Ignus suddenly muted. He felt his body walk down slowly towards the arena floor, towards Typhon. His eyes were completely unfocused, almost glazed over as he kneeled down to look closely at his Piloswine's injuries. They weren't serious, but if left untreated, they could be life-threatening. Reaching into a pocket in his black trenchcoat, he pulled out a Full Heal and began dabbing at the injuries, the Piloswine letting out a few squeals, but kept still. "It's okay, Typhon, bear with the pain just a little longer. You fought your best, despite your nerves. I'm very proud of you, Typhon." Ignus petted the Piloswine's head a little before returning the Piloswine back to his Pokeball, and then got up to leave the arena floor.
But then, the four-time Champion stopped, feeling his legs buckle, but not give. His chest began to feel heavy as he made his way back up to where he was standing. Out of courtesy, he removed his hat, his grey hair and the one strand of fire-red shining in the lamplight, and just looked up, his eyes squinting a little, perhaps shaking it off a little. He then sighed, and looked over at the Professor of Kansai, but said nothing, just staring at her with his light blue eyes, waiting for her reaction.

The stands around Jack exploded. Fans were literally jumping in excitement as the Judge called it. Brooke had won. Jack turned to Seth, his face gleaming with shocked amazement at the final blow. It was moves like that that made him know he wasn't cut out for the big leagues.
"Holy shi-" he exclaimed, but he doubted that the curse could be heard over all the noise. "Seth, did you see that!?" It was more of an exclamation that a question, but Jack didn't care. He was still buzzing. The crowds around him started chanting the Professor's name; VERITY, VERITY!

Soren's lips twitched in the smallest of smiles as the crafty Professor used her deadly Dig/Flamethrower combonation to effectively end the battle in one almighty blast of searing flames. Ignus' Pilowswine was defenseless against such a powerful blow and succumbed to it's fatigue and the powerful flames.
"Well done Professor." he murmured as he clapped politely, secretly quite pleased she had pulled off the final win. The crowd chanted her name and rightly so - Brooke Verity had prooved herself more than worthy of her titles and firmly cemented her reputation in Kansai. The gentleman gym leader glanced down at his program and saw the next matchup - Lorna McKinley vs. Lumine Divina. Age and ability vs. raw power and youth, a most interesting match up, or so he hoped.

Lorna held her breath as Brooke's Ninetails disappeared for a second time only to reappear right in front of Ignus' Pilowswin and unleash the mother of all flamethrowers at point blank range. The Johto veteran was all ready on her feet when the flames dissapated and the referee declared Brooke the winner. Lorna jumped, pumping her fist into the air with a wild yell of triumph. "Atta girl Brooke!!" she bellowed, "That's how she's done!"
Typhlosion roared, blasting a jet of flame in the air in support of his fellow fire type, waving a stubby arm at Brooke's Ninetails to congratulate the beautiful fox-like pokemon.
Lorna turned to her cheerful companion, tossing a pokeball up and and catching it with a crooked grin. "Come on laddie we've gone our own battle to fight!" she laughed as the burly bear-like pokemon bobbed his head and returned to his pokeball with a crimson flash. She looked down at the red and white orb fondly. "See you soon buddy." She said as she began walking towards the arena to congratulate Brooke on her win and then take her place on the battlefield.
