(Guess I'll go then...)
Ignus felt the negative looks of everyone in the stadium, Brooke's the most, as he tried to keep his composure. But it was all getting to him, and he wasn't going to last long. He was beginning to pant slightly, sweat starting to form on his brow, which he wiped off. His pride spoke for him yet again, and he didn't mean that he threw the match just to insult the Professor. But she didn't see it that way, and neither did anyone else. The chant however...that didn't help him at all. I messed up again... Ignus clenched his fists tightly, and then his face looked angry at everyone in the stadium, but he kept his hat down over his eyes to hide it.
Sighing deeply, he took out another Pokeball, and looking over at Brooke, didn't say a single word, but instead looked down at the arena at her Dewgong, smiled a little, and then threw out his next choice. In a flash of light, Garet the Gallade stood up in the arena floor, and looked over at his Trainer, looking shocked at Ignus' painful expression. Sighing, the Gallade took its battle stance, its eyes showing anger saying "Anyone who would dare hurt my Trainer in any way will pay dearly". Ignus stared at his partner, and knew that anything else he said wouldn't even matter. He just stood there and waited.

Brooke was startled by the support shown by the crowd towards her, but it wasn’t fair picking on Ignus like that. She gave a mixed expression, especially when he released… Gallade. Brooke pursed her lips, Dewgong would need to be careful on this one. Ignus stood there and waited, Brooke knew this wasn’t going to be good – Gallade’s expression seethed pure hatred. “Careful pal, he’s not going to hold back one bit.” She didn’t like the idea of Dewgong getting hurt just because of this, she too was here for fun. Although, after what he said to Raichu? She had to at least try to make a point.
“Let’s just try and make this one quick and painless. Dewgong, use Sheer Cold!” Dewgong complied with a cry of joy and glowed bright blue, suddenly, a huge wave of blue energy surged out from Dewgong’s body, freezing everything in its path. Brooke was obviously hoping for a hit, but she knew that Gallade would be fast – at the very least, Brooke would hope to give Dewgong the home field advantage with the ice which now consumed the entire of the field. Once the attack had been deployed, Dewgong skated around the ice that it had created, sweeping and diving off of ledges made from frozen trees and rocks, truly looking at home on the ice.

Ignus looked around the arena as Brooke's Dewgong used Sheer Cold to completely freeze the entire floor. Nodding silently to Garet, Garet jumped up before the floor completely froze over, and then landed on a nearby boulder, watching the Dewgong skate around on the ice, not letting up on its angry expression towards Brooke. He then looked over at Ignus, who just nodded negatively, saying silently "Don't be angry, Garet. Concentrate on the battle." The Gallade nodded silently, and taking a deep breath, looked down at the frozen ground nervously, sighed, and waited for Ignus' orders.
"Garet, keep moving around." The Gallade complied silently, and began jumping around on the trees, slipping a few times, but not falling down. It's been a while since Ignus and Garet fought in frozen terrain like this, but Ignus didn't want to slow down now. "Garet, move in and use Leaf Blade." The Gallade immediately skated towards the Dewgong, one of its bladed arms glowing bright green, its eyes showing great intent.

Brooke took in a long, deep breath, trying to keep a level head as Dewgong skated so gracefully around the field; almost as if it were unaware of the looming danger. Brooke’s Dewgong was known for its aloof and carefree behaviour, but was also formidable for its agility and fast attacks that hit hard – it was a case of holding its attention for long enough to get it to focus on its opponent. Brooke’s direction was important for Dewgong, so it would really be imperative for Brooke to pay attention as well.
The Gallade was skating in to attack with a Leaf Blade which was bad news for Dewgong if it hit. Brooke pressed her lips together as she considered what to do, “Hold still Dewgong!” How strange! Why would Brooke let Dewgong become a sitting duck? She had her reasons and anyone familiar with Brooke’s battling technique would know that she left things to the very last minute. As Gallade got closer and closer, Brooke and Dewgong waited. It was only until it would seem too late that Brooke would shout, “Signal Beam, now!”
Dewgong didn’t hold back, now so close to taking a hit Dewgong slid back on the ice slighty as a small orb of light formed at the tip of Dewgong’s horn, which then suddenly burst forward in a concentrated ray of light – straight at Gallade.

Ignus' eyes showed worry as Brooke told her Dewgong to hold still and fire a Signal Beam at point blank. "Garet, pull out of the attack!" The Gallade gasped slightly, and moved slightly out of the way as the Signal Beam grazed the Gallade's side, causing him to skid away from the Dewgong, clutching its side with a pained, but still angered expression. "Garet, keep your head cooled." Gallade immediately looked over at his Trainer with an angry and confused expression, saying a few things. Ignus sighed, and said, "Garet, I know that you tend to be overprotective of me, but this...this is going a little too far, don't you think?"
Ignus sighed, and then looked over at Brooke, nodded his head from side to side, and sighed again, and said, "Garet, it's time to use that technique we worked on. First, Psycho Cut." The Gallade immediately complied and jumped up into the air, one of its arms glowing with a pink aura this time, and appeared to fire at the Dewgong, but only hit the ground around it, causing some white dust to form around it. Garet then landed, grimaced for a minute, but then skated towards the dust, waiting for an opening, then charged right into the dust cloud, Ignus watching carefully. I didn't think that I would have to use this technique so early in the match...from here on out until the dust settles, it's a big gamble...

Brooke cursed when Gallade managed to duck out of the attack just in time not to take the full hit, never the less some of Gallade's health would have gone down from the damage so close, all Brooke could do now was hope. The next attack was a Psycho Cut, which would be devastating if it hit Dewgong, the seal pokemon had already spied this attack coming and had prepared for the next attack. The cut slammed down just before Dewgong, not actually hitting. Brooke furrowed her eyebrows, what was he playing at?
Particles of ice were thrown up into the air, creating a mist that shrouded Dewgong, Brooke parted her lips slightly as if she were about to say something - but she was trying to work things out first. Gallade was heading into cloud now, it must be some form of diversion. Brooke couldn't see, she could only anticipate something bad was going to happen.
"Dewgong, you need to get out of there!" But Dewgong was lost in the cloud of icy mist, it turned from side to side, but was completely disorientated. A sitting duck.

Ignus sighed deeply. He could tell that Brooke wanted Gallade to get hit full on with the Signal Beam, but the first part of Garet's technique worked. It took Garet and I awhile to actually perfect this technique to any situation...the icy floor builds up his speed, not to mention builds up all of the force that comes with an attack that hits at full speed... Ignus didn't smile this time, watching the white dust with anticipation. He knew that inside, Gallade was moving in circles around Brooke's Dewgong, watching its opponent carefully. "Garet, Close Combat."
All of a sudden, Garet moved in behind the Dewgong, its arms pulled back, ready to begin its onslaught on the unsuspecting Pokemon. If hit, the onslaught of punches from the Gallade would knock Dewgong away, the dust cloud dispersed.
With Close Combat, the user suffers a serious decrease in both Defense and Special Defense...once that attack is over, I'll have to go back on the offensive...

"Dewgong!" Brooke cried out, her voice breaking slightly as she did. She couldn't see a thing and it made her panic, her emotions were reflected upon her Pokemon inside the cloud of mist. Dewgong called out in desperation, but it found itself grounded on the ice, panicking far too much. Dewgong turned just in time to see Gallade standing there behind it, the Dewgong was just charging up an Ice Beam as a defensive maneuver but it wasn't fired in time. Gallade's attack hit Dewgong square on, and being weak to fighting moves - Dewgong suffered horrific damage.
When the cloud dispersed from the force of the attack, Dewgong would be laid on the ice, which had cracked under the pressure of the attack. Knocked out.
"Dewgong is unable to battle, Ignus Draco takes the win!"
"No! Dewgong!" Brooke cried, looking as if she was about to jump down onto the ice and go over to it - but it was too dangerous to go down there in such conditions. "No Dewgong.." She took a deep breath and pulled out a pokeball to return the Pokemon, she stared at the Pokeball and forces a sheepish smile, "Well done, friend. You did your best."

Evie gasped as the battle unfolded, the use of Sheer Cold to freeze the field was inspired - something that Evie took note of mentally, undoubtedly she'd try to see if any of her Pokemon could learn the move, it would undoubtedly be useful in a contest battle and would give her excellent marks with the judges.
The combination of Psycho Cut and Close Combat also had Evie reeling, she peered forward to the screen on the stage which relayed close ups of the battle - the beauty in the ice being thrown into the air from the cut was brilliant! An excellent diversion and it had given Ignus his first win.
Evie gave an excited look to William, "I wonder who's up next?"

Soren smiled appreciatively at the Professor's use of Sheer Cold, a powerful attack if it hit, but even with a miss it would give Dewgong a definate field advantage.
The gym leader winced internally at the very effective combination of Psycho Cut and Close Combat. The blow hit Dewgong straight on before it had time to launch a counter attack, knocking the elegant seal-like pokemon out cold. He frowned slightly, fiddling with his pocket watch as he waited for the next pokemon to be called out. It was going down to the wire, whoever one the next match would clinch the entire battle. He watched, even more intrigued than before as he mentally analyzed each move he had witnessed to better understand each trainer's strategies. 'Fascinating...'

Ignus sighed, and noticed Garet walking back up to him, clutching its side, trying not to slip on the ice, and Ignus placed his hand on the Gallade's head, the blade Pokemon looking up at him with anticipation, and Ignus tried to smile, which was weak but it was still a smile. "You did wonderful Garet, we pulled it off excellently. Dewgong also fought its best as well." Ignus then returned the Gallade back to his Pokeball, and then looked over at Brooke, and immediately lost his smile looking at the Professor. The Close Combat move looked to have more power than it should have, and he worried about the Dewgong having any more serious injuries.
He then looked around the crowd, taking careful note. Some of them seemed to have changed their minds about his win, the others were still peeved at him from the first matchup. Apparently, some people can't let things go so easily...oh, well, I don't necessarily care if they hate me...all of it was a misunderstanding, after all...anyone with sharp eyes could have known that Baron was fighting for his life for it to be considered a 'hollow victory'...eh, whatever, their loss. They just made a very horrible enemy out of me...
The Explorer gripped his trenchcoat tightly, feeling a panic attack coming on. He hasn't had an attack like this since yesterday, but this attack was more stronger than the last one. Inhaling and exhaling, he kept his composure, starting to sweat underneath the bright lights. Knowing what happened after the first matchup, he kept his mouth shut, took out another Pokeball, and released Typhon, the Piloswine looking about lazily, and then immediately straightened up after realizing where he was.
Ignus shook his head. Typhon...so oblivious until the last minute... "Typhon, we're in the middle of a battle here. I want you to fight your best, and give it your all. Understand?" The Piloswine nodded slightly, but then started to shake, the giant fur Pokemon trying not to look nervous. Since Typhon was more about helping Ignus with scouting out discoveries and all with his sense of smell, he wasn't quite used to battling, even though this was the same Piloswine that helped Ignus win his Johto Championship.

Lumine noticed some people in the crowd exchanging looks of shock when Ignus was declared the winner of the second battle. "Good job, Ignus! You too, Professor! You both did your best!" Lumine could tell that Ignus seemed more distraught than before when the battle started, but he managed to turn it around in the end. When Ignus released his Piloswine for the last battle, she looked over at Lorna, and smiled, saying, "Well Ms. McKinley, what did you think of the battle?"

Lorna swore when Dewgong was laid out flat on the ice. Gallade's move combination was extremely effective against the large seal-like pokemon. Typhlosion let out a low bellow that ended in a sharp whine, clearly concerned about Brooke's fallen pokemon. Lorna patted the burly fire-type's paw comfortingly. "There, there mate I'm sure Dewgong's fine - we'll go talk to Brooke afterwards to make sure."
Typhlosion bobbed his head and focused back onto the field where Piloswine stood waiting. Lorna looked at Lumine and gave her a crooked grin. "It was a good fight, Ignus had the type advantage of course, still a good fight on both parts." the biologist said, watching Ignus' newest pokemon carefully. The biologist in her was anazlying ever aspect of its behavior, noting its nervousness - that could be a hinderance, "This last matchup should be a good one!"

William smiled as the battle unfolded, impressed by the move combinations that Ignus and Gallade were executing. "He my be a twat, but he has that pokemon well trained..." William said as the mist dropped, revealing the fallen Dewgong. "And now Poliswine has the advantage of being an ice type on an ice field, this should be interesting..." He added thoughtfully smiling over to Evie.

With ice, there was only one solution. Brooke's solemn expression shifted and another Pokeball was drawn, she tossed it up in the air and caught it before throwing it out onto the field. There was only one Pokemon she knew that would handle ice this well without being an ice type.
"Give it all you've got, Ninetails!" Brooke called as the large cream fox appeared on the ice in a ball of flame that melted the ice around it. The vixen gave a shrill cry and hunkered down low in an offensive position. "Alright Ninetails, let's do this for Dewgong!"
