"Do you think it would be a good plan to look above the canopy?"
Lorna nodded at William's suggestion - as of now it looked like the two of them would be the main ones leading this little escapade. "Yes that might be an idea, pehaps we can spot the top of the building or maybe a gap in the trees."
That said she climbed onto Dragonite's back and gently squeezed her legs against his flanks. The large orange dragon gently pushed off the ground, gaining altitude with slow steady beats of his wings until they rose above the treetops, assuming William would follow. The biologist's keen eyes carefully scanned the vast expanse of green before her and spotted a slight irregularity - a gap in the trees and a small brown peak just visible over the canopy. She narrowed her eyes when she caught a strange scent on the breeze - woodsmoke. "William come here and tell me what you make of this."

William watched as Lorna flew up, just about hearing her calling to him from above. He jumped onto Onix's head holding its horn for stability, patting it slightly as a sign of affection. "Up we go mate." He ordered and a moment later he drew level with Lorna, looking to her while shielding himself from the light that was reflecting from his pokemon's body.
He followed where she pointed to see the clearing in the distance. His nostrils flaring as he took in the scent that was being carried in the air. "Thought I could smell smoke..." He muttered as he tried to focus on the brown peak. "There are no human settlements here, and for good reason. This area is known for violent wild pokemon so humans aint allowed here." He thought for a moment running a hand through his hair. "Logic dictates that the poachers are building this but it seams to big to be a temporary base." He continued thoughtfully, having to raise his voice to be heard over the wind. "But to small to be any kind of operation base. Chances are it aint finished yet, if we can make it there in time we could take it out before its fully built."
He turned to look at Lorna again, wondering if she would agree with his idea. "Could take the building using a Guerrilla Warfare style approach."

Lorna 'hmmm'd' to herself as she took William's words into consideration. "Maybe if it were just you and I - Dragonite's Hyper Beam could rip that place apart in a jiff," the biologist said, patting her dragon's horned head affectionately. "But we've got that lot below to watch out for - I'd like to avoid this being a nitty gritty fight if we can; I can watch my own back just fine but not everyone's."
She sighed, running a hand through her choppy blonde locks. "Okay how about this - we make our way towards the building. I'll go step out and try to get their attention, draw them out while you and the others surround the building, but you stay hidden. We need to figure out how many there are and what kind of gear and pokemon they're packin'" she said. "This way if I get into trouble you can bail me out."

Zeke scowled a little as smoke was blown into his face, flapping his arms to disperse it. That was not nice, not nice at all. He was just trying to be friendly! Honestly. No wonder the lady had snapped if that's how he responded to kindness.
He'd grinned at Evie, would always grin at Evie, she was lovely, and a bit all-not-there, just like him. It made him feel slightly better about how he could miss the obvious, or go off on the strangest tangents. He still wasn't as dumb as people perceived him to be, but he had his flaws. Zeke couldn't help his mouth falling open at Arthur's attempts of charming Evie. That wasn't fair. That totally wasn't fair. He thought pirates were cool too! Had always thought pirates are cool, all the freedom and the seven seas and the no responsibilities stuff, that's awesome. And pirates could be good too. If he were to be a pirate, he'd be one of the good ones. Like Robin Hood.
"Pirates could be like Robin Hood." He realised that didn't have much context, but then Arthur was complimenting Evie's "booty" and he was a bit too upset to really give it context beyond a general hand wave and some flapping to indicate "stealing from the rich", then a later move across to "give to the poor". He'd be amazing at sign language if that's what it was. Zeke hmph'd slightly, turning away from Arthur and giving Esme a look to indicate she should totally get up in his private space. Not to freak him out or anything, just to... yeah, to freak him out.

Lumine just stood there, looking at all of the things happening around her. First, Lorna told off that young man with the Chatot on his shoulder for complaining, then the other two walking over to him for comfort. He smiled, and then her ears perked when she overheard Lorna and the man named William talking about guerilla strikes and Lorna offering herself up as bait.
That led Lumine to thinking. Lorna was a very strong Champion, stronger than her anyways, so the job would be good for her to undertake. The Pokemon Ranger continued to listen to William and Lorna's conversation silently, trying to find a good place to jump into the conversation, but couldn't. She then looked over to where they flew over the canopy, smelling smoke as well. Those poachers... she thought silently to herself, her expression serious, Are in for a little surprise...

"I have to say, you be carrying the finest booty I have ever laid my eyes on."
Evie just sort of... stared at Arthur for a few moments, a dumb smile on her face as if she didn’t quite understand what he had meant. It was only when Zeke appeared to be upset did she actually catch onto the fact that not only had Arthur complimented her, but was in fact trying to flirt with her. She started this really strange sort of high pitched slow laugh, as if she didn’t quite know how she ought to respond. Evie brushed some hair from her beetroot red face, “Iiii’m going to see what Lorna and William are planning.”
She turned on her heel, passing Lumine with a sweet – albeit a somewhat embarrassed, smile and then went to see that. Ah. Hang on. Athena was released and Evie jumped upon the massive owl Pokémon’s back, Vulpix was returned to her Pokeball and a few beats of her wings and she too was above the canopy with William and Lorna. Evie marvelled for a moment at the Dragonite and crystal Onix, it was as if their strength radiated from them.
Evie edged closer to catch, “We need to figure out how many there are and what kind of gear and pokemon they're packin'” Evie looked on to see smoke rising from the trees, obviously this would be where they were heading. She moved closer still, until she was beside William and his Onix.
”I can help there, if you want. My Gligar is small but fast, he could do a quick scan over how many people are there. If he stays high enough up, no one will notice him. But, that’s only if you want.” Just so they knew what she was on about, Evie released the bat Pokémon who zipped around the group cheerily.

William thought for a moment as Evie joined them. He looked to the Gligar smiling at Evie's enthusiasm. He nodded to her then turned to her pokemon smiling to it gently. "Gligar instead of flying over the top, you are small enough to move between the trees as you fly." He turned back to Evie, flicking his blue fringe from his face. "These people steal Pokemon Evie, we cant send Pokemon in alone even if there chances of getting caught are slim. Have him fly a 2 mile perimeter of the clearing, that way we can find out if there are any other paths used regularly, last thing we want is people coming up behind us."
He turned back to Lorna, flicking his fringe again, the wind determined to keep it in his eyes. "Ok you got this, but..." He reached into his bag and took out two walky-talkies, one of which he clipped to his belt then plugged the earphone for it into his ear. He then held the other one out to Lorna. "Make sure you use the earphones, otherwise they might hear us when we are close."

((Looks like a good a time as any))
Jason slowly moved through the undergrowth, keeping his eyes peeled on the team that had obviously been sent to stop him. Well if this was all they could muster, they must be either stupid or low on staffing... or both... He watched as the more sane members of the team moved up above the canopy to investigate, at this distance they would see the tower. Damn it, he need more time. In a group this size they would reach the tower within three days, even with the pokemon working around the clock it wouldn't be complete, he needed at least 5 days. He had to slow them down. His eyes scanned the group as he came up behind them, not making a sound. He looked at the ones at the back, spotting something that was... odd... to say the least. That Chandelure was on a lead... It was obvious, the trainer was a fool, he did not deserve such a pokemon and Jason was more then happy to relieve him of it...
He clicked the button on the back of his left hand, activating the Snag Machine, a pokeball materialising in his left hand as it did so. He pulled it back then launched it out to the pokemon, the claw like light reaching out from the ball and snatching the Pokemon before locking and retuning to Jason. Jason grinned darkly and with that backed off into the shrubs and was gone.

"Iiii’m going to see what Lorna and William are planning." Aw bless, the girl was so embarrassed of his advances, how sweet. Arthur thought to himself. As she left he held a smug grin on his face. He spoke to Zeke with his back turned, eyes still attached to that wenches fabulous booty. "She totally digs me. What do you think man, reckon I have a shot?" He asked redundantly. He already knew the answer, I mean, just look at him! Who wouldn't want that?
He turned to Zeke at his silence and was met with that blasted Chandelure looking angrily at him. Arthur promptly let out a scream and recoiled from the ghost. How did that get so close without him noticing? And why was his owner looking so annoyed? Before his tiny mind could comprehend any of these questions, the Chandelure almost looked surprised before it had disappeared in a flash of light.
By the look on Zeke's face, he would say the vanishing act was definitely not planned. Arthur felt confused as to what was going on, but he's learnt over the years that you should count your blessings. He started cackling very loudly, bending over slightly as he started to shake with laughter, he weakly lifted a hand and pointed to the devastated Zeke. "AHAHAHA, your blasted beast is gone! What good is a leash now?" He continued laughing manically, even as the others started panicking.
Arthur had finally got his revenge on Esme the Chandelure.

Lorna nodded and accepted the walkie, mirroring the younger man's move as she placed the ear bud into her ear. She opened her mouth to give another direction to Gligar when a flash of light below caught her attention. She looked down just in time to see Zeke's Chandelure disappear in a flash of light and judging from the boy's expression it certainly wasn't his doing. "Dammit they've spotted us - Dragonite get down there!"
Dragonite growled and folded his wings, plummeting back towards the undergrowth. Lorna leapt off of his back and ran over to Zeke. "Zeke what happened - did you see anyone!?" she said quickly. "William, Lumine get down here! I need you to help me find any tracks - the rest of you don't move!"
She turned to Arthur who still continued to laugh and did the only thing she could think of to shut him up. She grabbed him by the scruff of the neck to hold him steady and then rammed her fist into his stomach. "Shut up or I'll have you keelhauled!"

"She totally digs me. What do you think man, reckon I have a shot?" Zeke wasn't even going to dignify that with a response. He sincerely hoped he didn't. Not that Evie seemed too thrilled by his flattery. Serves Arthur right if she doesn't like him, anyway. Just does. No reason for it. He chuckled softly at Arthur's recoil and totally unmanly shriek. How was a pirate so feminine, anyway? Surely that's a really bad thing to be as a pirate? "She's not going to hurt you." At this point, Zeke decided to try and imitate Arthur's accent, "laddy." He started laughing again. It wasn't even that funny, really.
He cut off abruptly when it seemed like the world stopped turning. The leash dropped, losing the only thing keeping it afloat, as Esme the Chandelure disappeared in a flash. All the humour flooded from his face as he shook the leash roughly, in some insane belief that it might just make her reappear. Zeke opened and closed his mouth, processing the situation and trying his damndest to not just completely breakdown from panic. He quickly wrapped the leash around his wrist, gripping onto it tightly and turning to glare darkly at Arthur, pointing at him. "You. Shut up."
Another slow breath and he felt better, good enough to answer Lorna. "I didn't see anyone, but they can't be far, given that we're in a forest and the density obscures long distance objects. Also means they don't have to be far and yet stay hidden. You should put your Pokemon away." Zeke ran his free hand over his face, sighing weakly. "We can find tracks ourselves, can't risk..." Trailing off, Zeke went into silence, failing to even find amusement in Lorna's punching of Arthur. Usually he'd be in hysterics. How depressing. This ordeal was turning him smart, of all things. Now that really sucks.

"You. Shut up."
When Zeke said that, it sent a shiver down Arthur's spine, where was the wimpy boy he was accustomed to? If he were a sensible man, he would've shut up. Too bad he was not. He continued laughing, even if it was slightly nervous now. It was almost as if he was scared by Zeke's turn of personality, but that was ridiculous. So he carried on laughing, until he was assaulted yet again.
OW. Did She-Hulk just punch him? What was this woman's problem? Arthur had had enough of this wench's attitude. "Oi bitch!" He snarled, grabbing at his poor stomach. "What is your problem? If you're looking for a fight then bring it on!" He got up in her face, scowling deeply. "If you think I won't hit you because you have-" He paused to make a gesture towards her chest. "-Mammories, then you're wrong!" He paused for dramatic effect as he stood glaring at her. "You don't seem to get it, love. I'm a pirate, and I will do whatever the fuck I want." he whispered darkly, a crazy gleam in his eyes.
He's had enough of people pushing him around.

"These people steal Pokemon Evie, we cant send Pokemon in alone even if there chances of getting caught are slim. Have him fly a 2 mile perimeter of the clearing, that way we can find out if there are any other paths used regularly, last thing we want is people coming up behind us."
Evie pursed her lips, William was right. “Okay, I’ll do that. You heard him George, be care-“ But then something was wrong, Gligar seemed to look distressed and Noctowl shuddered beneath her. “Guys.. Calm down. Are you okay?” But then Lorna had clocked it, they’d seen them. Evie cursed under her breath and had Noctowl dive down – Gligar following shortly after. Upon landing Evie saw just the very last moment of what had happened. A large claw like thing just snatching Chandelure out of the air! Evie went a little pale, Arthur was laughing hysterically, Lorna was getting angry, Zeke was in shock.
Lorna grabbed Arthur and delivered him a huge punch to the stomach, which of course Arthur retaliated too. At that point, something took over Evie as she stormed between the Johto veteran and pirate, making sure to get both hands and shove them apart hard, surprisingly hard, considering her size. “Will you two just shut up?” She looked between them, making sure they were listening. “We have freaking poachers around here and Chandelure just vanished! This is not the time to be fighting each other!” She spat, then turned to Arthur. “How would you like it if Chatot was suddenly snatched from your shoulder, never to be seen again? You should have some humility! You may pretend to be a pirate but that's no excuse to be a dick when someone's lost a friend!” She took a deep breath, then faced Lorna, “And you! You’re one of the most respected researchers on this island and you go and do something as dumb and stupid as attacking a man who's a bit of a prick?! You’re Lorna McKinley! You have a reputation to hold and you’re just letting it all go in one punch! Why are you even bothering with him? You of all people should be above this sort of behaviour! Now if you two don't shut up and make peace for the sake of all of us I swear to god I'll have Athena send you both to sleep and fly you back home.”
She took in a long, exasperated breath, her cheeks flushed. Once composed, Evie walked to Zeke and placed her hands on his shoulders, “We’ll get Chandelure back, okay Zeke?”

Lorna snorted like an angry bull and made to grab the jumped up little shit when Evie's tirade effectively ended the confrontation. She glared at Arthur. "Come at me and you'll be leaving with a minimum of two broken limbs, I garuntee it!"
Dragonite lumbered up behind his trainer, sensing her anger and growled threateningly at the 'pirate' as he moved in between the two. Normally quite docile the dragon flared his wings and let out a low rumbling growl, not aggressive yet, but certainly warning. Lorna turned quickly on her heel and walked towards the tangle of trees where the light had come from. She stroked her jaw thoughtfully and beckoned over William. "William didn't you say your Marshtomp was an excellent scent tracker? See if he can find any foreign smells in those trees there."

William dropped down from the shrubs to find chaos. Zeke was clutching an empty leash, his normally carefree demeanour now replaced by an expressionless mask. Arther was shouting at Lorna who had, by the redness of her knuckles and the way Arther was holding himself, punched the pirate in the gut. He stepped forward putting a hand on each of their chests holding them apart, causing them both to fall into silence as he stared them both in the eye one after the other.
"Before you speak let me just say, I dont care who started it because I am finishing it." He looked to the pirate staring him down, gripping his shirt slightly. "You, grow up. If you want a fight you will face me. You can play the pirate act all you like when you are alone but you are starting to get on my nervs so do us all a favour and be quite."
He then looked to Lorna giving her the same expression. "I understand this is a shock but hitting him will not help. You are supposed to be a profesional." He let go of them both and stepped forward before turning to adress the group.
"Dont you see, this is what they want. Divide and Conquer. This man," he pointed to Zeke, "Has just had his pokemon stolen and right now all we should be doing is getting it back." He looked at Zeke for a moment, feeling his pain and pulling out his pokeball to return his Onix. "No all of you shut up and do not move, if we are going to catch him we need to act fast. He knows the terrain, we dont, that gives him a big advantage."
He moved to where Zeke stood looking behind him into the shrubs. "If you didn't see him then he must of come from behind you.." He moved closer and stepped into the shrubs looking for clues. He was gone a moment then returned with a saddened look on his face. "He left a short trail but then it stops dead. My guess would be he took to the trees. We wont be able to follow him without our pokemon and we cant do that or he may steal them. Our only option is to keep moving towards the building in the distance and hope we get there soon. We need to move now as we only have a few hours of light left..."
And with that he started walking in the direction of the clearing they had seen, hoping he would be able to stay in a straight line without Onix's help.
