((Believe me Soren, I've been thinking about what it'd be like if we shipped Soren and Brooke together. I can imagine adorableness, hilarity and brutality xD))
Brooke was very much pleased that Ignus was enjoying the island, the thought of him settling here ought to lure out other trainers as well. "I'm very glad to hear that! Is there anywhere that takes your fancy? Sienna? Silverfern? Or were you thinking maybe be a bit nomadic and go live in the wilderness? It's not impossible, you only need to look at the ranch to know it can work. Your Pokemon are strong enough to defend you there."
Under the sea... Mentally, Brooke began to scan the schematics of the island. After a few moments, she'd bring out her phone and bring up a picture of the island, she'd go to stand beside Ignus; to show him where he could go and look. "About a mile outside of the island is terraformed, it's mainly reefs to try and get bigger waves to encourage more surfer Pokemon. However, if you go further out; then you're bound to find something - the sea is one of the many mysteries of the world, and with any luck it would still be shallow enough for you to only need diving gear."
With her free hand she pressed her fingers to her lips, pausing for thought, "I would also recommend you search over the western side of the island - we're sheltered by Kanto, so the sea won't be as rough as the open eastern side. That's just to start things off though, once you've started you can work your way around." She grinned, "It's a shame Karen didn't hang around, but I know you're capable by yourself to manage and I'm prepared to offer tactical support where you need it." She looked between Ignus and Soren, "I mean. I'm no geologist but I have the schematics of the island for reference, it'd be handy."

((Agreed whole-heartedly, adorable and hilariously violent, can't get much better <3 XD))
Soren rose and walked over, looking down over Ignus' shoulder to the map Brooke had brought up on her phone. He stroked his jaw thoughtfully and nodded. "True, the western side would probably be the best place to start," he agreed, pausing to give Brooke a half-smile. "Though as fascinating as this proposed adventure might be I must say I think I'll leave you underwater exploration Ignus...swimming isn't exactly my strong suit."
The gentleman gym leader let out a small 'hmm' as he started pacing in front of the fireplace. "Schematics definitely would come in handy Professor - though if Master Draco here is serious about underwater exploration he'll need a water-craft of some sort. I realize you probably have pokemon that can handle the surf Ignus, but a solid base of operations is vital to a venture like this," he said, sitting back down in his chair. He was silent for a moment, pale eyes pensive before he sat upright with a snap of his fingers. "And I know just the ticket - I've got a friend out in Coventina, spectacular girl, who practically bleeds saltwater. If you're really serious about this Ignus I know I can procure a suitable support boat."
Before he could say more there was a rap on the door before it opened and Nathaniel wheeled in a trolley carrying a fresh pot of tea, biscuits and other food. Soren looked at both Brooke and Ignus and waved in the direction of the trolley. "Help yourself, might as well get comfortable - I don't think this storm is letting up for a while yet," he said with a slight shrug of his shoulders as he snatched up the pile of letters again and started going through them. He opened one and took a single glance at the heavy black script before looking up at Nathaniel, who was busy pouring up a cup of tea, with a weary expression. "I take it Master Ralf still hasn't gotten the memo that everyone in our business contract speaks English yet hm?"
"He is quite stubborn Sir, he's not fond of English," Nathaniel replied with a slight smile. "And he knows you speak his language quite fluently as your father did."
"Yes but he has to realize things are going to go agonizingly slow if I have to translate every bloody proposal from him to relay onwards," Soren grumbled. "At least it's not in Russian this time, lord I had such a headache after that." He sighed and put aside the letter, glancing between Ignus and Brooke. "Well, I'm thoroughly intrigued by this idea - only question is, Ignus, are you committed to it? Because I'm more than willing to extend a helping hand in the matter as I've stated."

Ignus chuckled a little and looked up. "Well, I was thinking of getting a place in Silverfern. That big city-like setting reminds me of home back in Saffron before I moved, so I think I'll look around and find a house there, Professor."
Ignus sat in his chair and looked at the picture of the island Brooke was showing him, rubbing his chin in thought. He could tell he desperately needed a shave, but that wasn't important now as he listened to Brooke's explanation along with Soren's. "I see...yes, start on the western side...alright. I'll need to get my diving Pokemon ready, along with getting some diving gear, and I'll be set." He then thought about what Soren said about his friend in Coventina, and Ignus nodded. "And I agree with your suggestion, Soren. It would be nice to have someone help."
Ignus then grabbed a cup of tea and a few biscuits on a small plate, settling back down in his chair and began sipping on the tea slowly, munching off a biscuit from time to time. He then looked at Soren upon hearing the Gym Leader's question and smiled a little. "Of course, Soren. If I wasn't committed to this expedition of mine, I wouldn't be sitting here explaining it. It would be nice to get all the help I can get around here."
He then looked at the fireplace as he sipped his tea, his blue eyes showing him deep in thought, possibly contemplating the deep-sea expedition as he sits there sipping his tea.

Brooke raised her eyebrows at Soren when he mentioned the girl at Conventina, a smug smile on her face with the slight tilt of her head implied that perhaps this ‘spectacular girl’ had been a previous conquest of his. She was taunting him, of course, why wouldn’t she? At least this was in good spirit, as opposed to a slap across the face for inappropriate behaviour. Brooke decided she was going to take a seat, looking positively eager when the tea arrived. “Oh, I plan to Soren.” She remarked in terms of getting comfortable. Even Brooke couldn’t deny this opportunity to drink tea and eat biscuits in luxury. “Thank you Nathaniel.” Brooke smiled, accepting a cup of tea and plonking a single sugar cube into it. She took a sip of her tea, grateful for the warm drink; warmed the heart on a day like this.
As Ignus continued, Brooke set her tea aside for the moment in favour of nibbling on a biscuit she took from the trolley, “Ignus, if you want to take a more deep sea exploration Pokémon tea, I’d be happy to lend you my Dewgong and Sharpedo – so that your Pokémon can have some back up if need be.” She offered, Dewgong would love the opportunity, she had been stuck in Brooke’s deserves since the parade – something she wasn’t happy about, but alas the rules of how many Pokémon you could carry didn’t exempt a Professor. Sharpedo on the other hand was always happy to swim and help out when needed.

Soren didn't miss the look Brooke gave him, nor that slight tilt of the head to make her thoughts known. The gym leader gave her a sidelong glance and smirked, raising a silver brow of his own in return as if to say 'And what of it?' - if she was allowed to tease then so was he.
Truth be told she hadn't been a conquest per se, but more of a brief fling that had somehow turned into a steadfast, teasing sort of friendship. He did keep in touch with her as much as he could in a strictly friend-based manner - though given his reputation he could see why the Professor would think of it otherwise. He answered Brooke's comment with a soft laugh as he settled back in his chair and picked up the letters again, starting with the one that had given him grief earlier. He was only consoled by the fact that reading in German wouldn't leave him with a splitting headache like other languages tended to do. He glanced over the top of the paper at both Brooke and Ignus with an amused expression. "Seems like we might make a good venture out of this. I'll be quite intrigued to see what comes out of it," he chuckled. "I'll give Victoria a call when I get the chance and start getting things arranged, it shouldn't take long - when it comes to anything ocean-related she's your lady."
Only a moment after he'd finished speaking an almighty clap of thunder made the whole house shudder. The lights flickered then went out with a dull 'crack' leaving only the firelight to illuminate the room. "Hm storm must've knocked out the power, not to worry," Soren said, placing his letters aside as he rose and walked over to the side-table next to Brooke's chair, rummaging through it until he produced a book of matches. He walked the perimeter of the room, pausing in front of a few wall mounted candelabras to light them before returning to his seat. The room was now bathed in a soft golden light and had a pleasantly warm atmosphere thanks to the heat and flickering glow of the fire.
"There we go," he said as he slid the matches back into the drawer. He gave Brooke a shrug as he stepped back, barely resisting the urge to make a flirty quip about how she looked in the firelight, but that probably would've landed him a nice spot on the floor. He glanced over at Nathaniel, lowering his voice slightly. "Please check on Sarra for me if you would be so kind Nathaniel - you know how she gets with storms."
"Of course Sir." the old butler replied with a humble bow before leaving the room. Soren watched him go for a moment before taking his seat again and looking between Brooke and Ignus. "Now then, if you want to go about doing this it'll have to be fairly soon, the weather is going to start cooling down shortly."

Ignus looked in between Soren and Brooke, a curious expression on his face as to what those two were thinking. Still, he had to think about getting his gear ready for the deep-sea expedition. He still remembered when he did some diving back in Hoenn, and he really liked seeing the bottom of the ocean floor. He sipped his tea again, and listened to Brooke's offer of help, and nodded, smiling a little. "That would be nice Professor. Baron and Barradus would definitely agree to the offer of assistance." He was referring to his Blastoise and Sharpedo respectively, one of the two a very good diver, the other a very good surfer. He caught Barradus back in Hoenn, and after that, made him an honorary member of his reserves, or his exploration team, making Barradus the diving expert on the Pokemon reserve team.
He then looked up as the power went out, then sighed with relief as the candles were lit. He wasn't very fond of dark places. That's why he had Inazuma to light the way for him. He nodded to Soren. "A good idea. It's always good to plan a deep-sea expedition when there isn't a storm close by." He sipped his tea, then looked up at the ceiling again, lost in thought once more.

She flashed a half grin at Soren, that seemed to be all that was needed to confirm her thoughts about Soren and the sea master. Har har. It was as if she had won some small triumph; although really if Soren mentioned any female acquaintance she would assume such things. Gosh darn reputations, that was why she didn’t like his being associated with hers. She snickered quietly to herself when he spoke her name, “Victoria.” She uttered quietly, almost mocking the name. Poor girl, she was probably utterly delightful; it was just amusement for the Professor, so much serious work rarely allowed time for play.
The lights flickered out and Brooke groaned, taking a sip of her tea. “Get ready guys, it’s gonna be like this for the rest of winter.” Kansai’s weather ranged from very pleasant warm, dry summers and very wet, cold winters. Autumn and spring were touch and go, but it wasn’t detestable weather. Really this was the first big storm that had swept over the island. Brooke chomped down on her biscuit to finish it off as Soren went to light the candles, “Have you got a generator Soren? If not I’d invest in one, and a trusty little electric type.” She chuckled, Brooke had already volunteered her Raichu to power her apartment block if the power went out. The joys of Pokémon.
Her eyes set on Ignus, “Wonderful, we can arrange a temporary trade for then. You can just use fodder, I won’t mind.” she chuckled with a shrug, everyone had a Rattata or a Geodude they could use. Brooke shouldn’t call them ‘fodder’ considering her profession, but she was comfortable, in good company and as such she didn’t care.

Seeing Brooke's half-smile and hearing her mutter something Soren, feeling decidedly bold he gave her a sly wink, noting that Ignus was staring off into space he leaned ever so slightly towards the Professor, speaking low so only she would hear. "Jealous Verity?" he chuckled before leaning back in his chair. "I do have a generator but it's under repair right now - I wasn't expecting a storm so early on in the season."
He opened his mouth to speak again but was cut off by a small figure hurrying into the room and clambering up onto his lap. "Nathaniel said the storm knocked the power out," Sarra said, wriggling herself further into her father's embrace. "I don't like it."
Soren's playful demeanor changed immediately as he held his daughter close and stroked her hair in an attempt to comfort her. "Hey now, it'll be alright," he said softly. "I'm here Sarra, I'm here."
He held her close and leaned back in his chair, gently rocking her back and forth, singing softly under his breath. "Listen to my heart as it follows a dream, and it leads to a place that only I know. To know my heart is to follow a dream, a dream that only I can know...”
Curled up on her father's lap Sarra gradually fell asleep to the gentle tones of his voice. Soren sighed softly and continued to rock her back and forth slightly. "Hopefully the winter storms will be few and far between this season," he said softly so as to not wake Sarra. He gave Brooke a quick glance before turning his gaze onto the fireplace. "Neither of us likes them very much. Erm, but yes Ignus planning will be essential to this, though I think you're more than capable."

Ignus broke off from staring up at the ceiling. He then looked at the small girl clambering up onto Soren's lap, recognizing her voice as the girl from the parade who was Soren's daughter. Sighing, he looked over at the fireplace, remembering the last painful memory he had during a horrible storm: one he didn't want to relive again.
Ignus nodded to Soren. "Ah, yes Soren, I'll make sure to do some planning before setting out on the expedition." He then began playing with the one lock of fire-red hair that covered his right eye and the scar above it, apparently lost in thought again as he stared at the fireplace. He then seemingly muttered a single word, "Vulcan..." before returning to silence, sipping some tea as he plays with the lock of fire-red hair amongst his head of silver hair.

“Not at all.”Brooke retorted with a smirk, jealous? Ahahahaha. No. She sipped on her tea, selecting another biscuit and dunking it into the drink before nibbling away at it before any soggy crumbs fell into the bottom of the mug; quite the challenge.
Sarra appeared in the room and Brooke sat up properly, she held a good reputation with the girl (not that Brooke had a bad rep) but she didn’t want her currently very very relaxed demeanour to put her off in anyway; Brooke could be a bit of a slob when chilled out. She set down her cup of tea and finished the non-dunked part of her biscuit, the poor girl, she hadn’t seen Sarra face a storm; this wasn’t a good one to start the season off really either, the storm was appearing to calm, but the crack of thunder directly overhead signalled that the storm was moving directly over the mansion.
What panicked Brooke then was the shrieks and cries of Pokémon as a result. Brooke jumped from her seat and rushed over to the window, “That didn’t sound good.” She uttered, looking out of the rain streaked window, finding it difficult in the gloom to see what was going on. Brooke looked back to the others, her expression saying it all. She needed to go out into the storm, look and find out what happened.

Soren sat quietly with Sarra, getting lost in his own thoughts when a massive crack of thunder and a flash of light drew his attention. Brooke dashed over to the window and Soren followed suit, carrying Sarra in his arms. The gym leader peered out through the rain streaked glass and he saw a faint glow in the distance accompanied by the loud shrieks and cries of bird pokemon. It took him a few moments to piece the events together, but when he did a look of horror crossed his features. "The Rookery - lightning hit the Rookery!" he gasped. Soren turned to Brooke and carefully handed Sarra off to her with a pleading expression. The little girl woke, blinking drowsily. "Da what's going on?" "Nothing sweetling, I just have to check on something," Soren said, kissing her forehead gently before looking up at Brooke, placing a hand on her shoulder and speaking to her quietly. "Please, please Brooke, stay here, see if you can't alert Nathaniel. I'll take care of this."Soren realized it was probably a futile effort to tell the Professor to stay put, he knew damn well she was going to as she pleased - but he did not want to see her harmed. The gym leader dashed out of the room, snatching up his greatcoat and pulling it on before slipping outside into the storm and running across the grounds towards the Rookery. The south corner of the roof was ablaze and the larger bird pokemon were already flying away, screeching in terror, but there were still more inside - fledglings to small to fly. In a flurry of motion Soren released his Fearow, his Aerodactyl and his Swellow. "Help get the little ones out, quickly now!" he barked. The birds nodded and bravely flew into the building, returning with talons carefully clutching new hatchlings and juveniles. Soren ran into the Rookery and started searching the lower levels while his pokemon flew above to the regions out of his reach. A piece of flaming debris fell from the roof, landing nearby and Soren swore - nothing was ever easy. ((Just giving you a heads up Ignus don't pull a tower move and douse the whole thing in one move we kinda wanna roll with this for a bit dude))

(Alright, alright.)
Ignus broke off from his stare into deep space to hear all the commotion. After hearing the shrieks of bird Pokemon and Soren's yelling, he then looked around and then got up from his chair and looked to the window, seeing a tower in flames, and his blue eyes widened. "Fire..." He then saw Soren leave to help out, and then he found himself wanting to help...but then something stopped him, and he just looked out at the window. Sure, he could douse those flames...but Soren and his Pokemon were helping out with evacuating. In other words...the only thing Ignus could do was...stand there and watch, unable to help. Gritting his teeth, he pounded the wall near the window and just watched the flames engulf the Rookery. "What should I do?" was what he muttered to himself as he just stood there.

Brooke was reaching for the Pokéball containing Gabite and Sharpedo; Gabite could go into the flames relatively unscathed because of her resistance to fire to help anything stuck inside, Sharpedo could help put out the flames. However, her hands quickly diverted to embrace the slumbering form of Sarra. “Dammit Soren, you can’t do this alone!” She hissed, but it was too late, he was gone in the blink of an eye. Brooke groaned, she didn’t like being left behind as if she were a damsel in distress. She shifted Sarra’s weight and rested the girl on her hip, careful not to wake her.
Ignus slammed his fist against the wall, “Easy now! He asked us to keep this quiet. Let’s not wake Sarra.” Brooke walked over to him, leaning with Sarra’s weight to prevent her from slipping from her grasp as she handed Ignus Sharpedo’s pokeball, “Get out there and help him!” She hissed through gritted teeth, once he’d taken one, she’d give him the second pokeball containing Gabite. “Gabite will go inside and check if it’s clear. Sharpedo can help your Blastoise with the flames. They’ll understand why you’re holding them, quick, give me two of yours, you know the rules.” Whether the exchange happened ot not, Brooke wasn’t as strong as she looked, she was struggling holding Sarra, “I need to put her to bed. I’ll be out there the minute I’m done. Now go!”
Brooke shifted Sarra’s weight so the girl was carried on her front, the Professor would slip out of the room and head upstairs. She didn’t have a clue which room was Sarra’s, but after a short walk she found it. Brooke took care to lay the girl down into her bed and tuck her in, "Good night Sarra. Everything will be alright." Brooke whispered to her.

Soren cursed as he threw himself flat to avoid another piece of the rapidly disintegrating roof. His bird pokemon were doing the best the could to evacuate the stragglers but high pitched and frantic cries told him that there were still some trapped and the flames were spreading. He looked up on the second level and saw a hulking shape struggling beneath a beam that had fallen from the roof. The Pidgeot cried out frantically trying to free its trapped wing. Looking up Soren could see that his pokemon were still too busy to help.
Using a surprising amount of agility he grabbed onto the ledge of the second level and used a piece of fallen wood and masonry to vault himself up. He wedged himself up, placing one foot on the narrow nesting ledge and the other on the edge of the staircase that had been shattered by rubble falling from the initial lightning strike. There was no room for any of his other pokemon so the gym leader took it upon himself to set his shoulder against the beam and started to push. After a few moments of struggling he managed to shift the heavy piece of timber enough so that the frightened bird could wrench itself free. Unfortunately in its panic the bird shrieked and leapt forward in a flurry of panic and feathers, obscuring Soren's view. Something heavy struck his back, presumably another piece of debris and dislodged him from his perch. He tried to roll and absorb the impact when he landed but a sickening pop in his shoulder and a flare of agony were his only result.
He staggered onto his feet, trying to hold his dislocated shoulder as he backed up and pressed his back against the wall to avoid any more falling debris. He could barely see his pokemon now through the smoke, but a small blue shape came barreling through the haze, perching onto his good shoulder with a worried chirp. Soren gave her a strained smile and reached up to stroke her neck plumage with his good arm. "It'll be okay Wilhelmina, just keep helping the others."
Bracing himself Soren gathered his strength again and overcoming the pain he pushed away from the wall and continued his dash through the lower sections searching for anymore trapped pokemon whilst Wilhelmina watched from above, acting like the worried mother of her namesake.

Ignus turned to Brooke and bowed apologetically, then was handed two of Brooke's pokeballs, one containing a Sharpedo, the other a Gabite, and realizing what was happening, he quickly handed off to Brooke the pokeballs containing Typhon, his Piloswine, and Marcus, his Hydreigon, before dashing out of the room as quietly as possible so as to not wake Sarra. Once he was outside and running towards the tall building engulfed in flames, he stood outside and just looked up. He could tell that everyone needed to be evacuated before any dousing could occur: after all, Soren and the screeching bird Pokemon were still inside.
Looking at one Pokeball, he tossed it into the air and released Gabite, who immediately looked at him with a questioning look, so he kneeled down and petted its head gently. "Don't worry, Gabite. Your Professor handed you off to me temporarily. I need you to head inside and help with the evacuation procedure, to make sure everything's clear, then give me the signal to douse the flames, understand? Please...we don't have much time for introductions, I'm afraid..." Whether the Gabite understood him or not, he stood up as he watched the Gabite run into the burning building, then he took out the pokeball holding Baron and Brooke's Sharpedo and tossed them into the air, the Blastoise looking at the Sharpedo like it was someone he hadn't met. Baron's attention then turned to Ignus with his arms folded, the Sharpedo just looking at Ignus. He then sighed and looked at both of them. "Look you two, introductions will have to wait. We need to wait for everyone to be evacuated from the Rookery before we can douse the flames."
His gaze then snapped to Baron, a stern look in his eyes. "And Baron...only douse the flames when Gabite comes back and gives us the word to start dousing. Understand?" The Blastoise nodded, as he could tell his Trainer wasn't fooling around this time as Ignus turned back towards the burning building. "Great Arceus...I hope we get them all out in time..."
