Jason chuckled as the thick black smoke filled the arena, yet again the battle was hidden from the spectators. He watched as the glowing tail got closer, wanting it to hit. Metagross let out a grunt as the attack hit it but seemed to do little damage.
"Zen Headbutt..." He ordered. His Metagross had good attack stats but was slow to move so it was often hard to get close enough, Evie had just eliminated that problem for them.

((Oh my gosh, extreeeemely late reply! So sorry guys D:))
As soon as the platform/lift thing hit the ground, Arthur quickly put distance between himself and Jason and found himself unconsciously walking closer to Zeke. He saw Zeke smile slightly at him, and instantly felt ashamed for leaving him. Them. leaving them. He expected Zeke, and the others to berate him for leaving, he was expecting Zeke to say a lot of things to him.
"… I heard Blackbeard would set his hat alight to be particularly scary."
He was not expecting him to say that though. A look of confusion washed over the pirates face and he muttered "What?". Then his face softened and he started laughing. Not a cruel laugh, but a soft, relieved one. He guessed this was Zeke's way of dealing with things, pretend they didn't happen and move on. Arthur decided to humour him. With an amused smile Arthur replied, "I didn't know that." After spending some 'bonding time' with Jason, he was glad to be back in the company of his friend, who was less terrifying. Speaking of which, Arthur turned to where Lorna was battling Jason and shouted in the most deadpan voice he could muster, "Woo, yeah. Go Jason." He turned back to Zeke and rolled his eyes at Jason's antics, as if to say, 'What a prick'.
"Oh." Arthur dug around in his coat's large pockets and retrieved the scarf that Zeke had given him when the forest was on fire. He held it out to the other man, and timidly said, "I thought you might want this back."
Arthur turned to see the end of Lorna's fight, Jason had lost. 'Good.' Arthur thought to himself with a smug smile, hopefully Jason will get obliterated in battle and have to give back all of the pokémon he had stolen. Serves the bastard right. He saw Evie challenge him next, and couldn't help but think this was going to go badly. Arthur went cold when he had an epiphany, If Zeke was going to get his Chandelure back, he too would have to battle Jason.

Night Slash hit, Evie could tell by the sound of the Metagross' grunt through the haze. She gritted her teeth, hoping that Seviper was alright. Jason ordered for a Zen Headbutt, Evie took in a sharp breath. Seviper was weak to Psychic moves dammit, it was almost as if Jason had been banking on this match up; even if he had no idea what her Pokemon were. If only she had Aphrodite still in her possession...
Seviper, comfortable in the haze around them, saw that Metagross was charing up the Psychic move and didn't need to be told that it had to move. Metagross swooped in for the attack and Evie was left blind as to what happened next. Seviper waited until the last moment, then threw itself flat against the ground - aiming to let Metagross fly right over it.
The haze began to clear and Evie began to be able to see Seviper pressed flat to the ground. At first she cried out, thinking that the attack had hit and Seviper was down already; but she heaved a huge sigh of relief when the snake sprang back; hissing violently at the Metagross. "Night Slash again!" She was in a rut, it was the only move Seviper knew that could do any amount of decent damage to the Metagross.

Jason lost sight of Metagross as it moved deeper into the smoke to attack. He heard a loud thud as the attack hit the ground and, for a moment, thought the attack had hit home, only to see the snake jump up again. It must have dodged it. Damn. Jason's smile twitched back up as he made a plan. Time for a little combo.
"Grab it with Metal Claw." He ordered as the attack hit. Metagross was too slow to stop the attack, it had to move after. Its front claw shone white as it reached up and grabbed Seviper from off its head, not using the Metal Claw to attack, merely to strengthen its grip.
"Hold it down and use Meteor Mash!" Jason shouted, laughing hysterically as the titan steel pokemon slammed Seviper into the ground then raised its other from leg, a ball of swirling purple and blue energy started to form in its claw, about to slam the attach into Seviper's head.

Evie witnessed the moment that she knew she had lost. Seviper was held in the iron grip of the Metagross, this was it. She knew it was the end of the fight. Just as the Metagross' Meteor Mash was charging up, Evie screamed, "Stop! Stop it! You win!" Her eyes were brimming with tears, Seviper had lost this fight and she knew it; there was no need to subject him to further pain - especially not a move like Meteor Mash at point blank to the head.
She tried to desperately wipe away the tears that were about to fall and turned to the rest of the group, "I just can't..." She told them, her voice cracking with fear. Evie looked over to the Seviper, who was still struggling to writhe free of Metagross' grasp, "I'm sorry Ares.. I've failed you." Why did she even try to fight Jason? She wasn't going to be able to win, she never was. I'm such an idiot! She hissed in her mind, Lorna had just scraped through with horrible injuries to Arcanine. If anything, she was lucky that Seviper hadn't taken more damage.

Zeke grinned slightly as Arthur laughed. He'd expected some weird looks or just, something, rejection, but that would be horrible, and instead here was Arthur laughing at him and oh, why had he left. "Yeah, it's a bit, you know, bit weird. Sounds fun though!" Not that Zeke would try it. His hair would go up, or something, and then... oh God he'd be bald. No wait, that actually sounds fun. He'd be like a snooker ball. No, stop that train of thought.
As the sandstorm swirled, Zeke watched carefully, swallowing. He could just hope it went well, even while realising that he was going to have to do the same. There wasn't even a chance that he could analyse how Jason fought, with the battle being so well blocked from his view. Zeke glanced at Arthur, taking the scarf and looking it over. It was quite a nice scarf. All... scarfy. A scarfy scarf. Warm. That's the word he was looking for. He handed it back. "No, you keep it. You don't look like the kind of pirate to keep scarves and stuff. And scarves are really handy!"
His face took on a grim look as Lorna emerged victorious. She'd won, but she looked so... defeated. What could he do to help? Zeke moved closer, kneeling down next to her. "Hey. Well done." There wasn't much else to say. Zeke had hung back as Evie claimed the next battle, chewing on his lower lip. And now here Evie was, screaming for the battle to stop. How could anyone take such... delight, in this?

Jason grinned as Evie begged for the battle to stop, tears welling up in her eyes. Jason considered mercy for a moment, contemplating calling off Metagross's attack... No, fuck that.
"Finish the attack..." He cackled, eyes locked on Evie's as Metagross slammed the attack into Seviper's head, knocking it out cold, then threw the snake pokemon back at its trainer. Jason didn't want to miss a single motion in the young girls expression, the great sense of pleasure filling him once more.

(Stop deciding other people's reactions Jason >:U)
Jason ordered Metagross to finish the attack, "No!" She shrieked as the hand hammered down on Seviper's head, Evie was stunned, there wasn't even a sound as Seviper was swiftly but brutally knocked out. He was thrown back to her and Evie ran forward and went down onto her knees, her hands gently running along the scales of his body. "I'm so sorry Ares, I'm so sorry!" She cried, going to look at the injury on the snake's head. There was blood, plenty of it, so she couldn't really see the wound that it may have left.
A sudden bitter hatred rose within her and she looked straight at Jason, her words dripping with anger, "I may have lost to you, but I hope to Lugia that someone is going to find you and beat you to a bloody pulp. You're a man without honour and a coward!" Her voice broke as tears streamed down her face, she uttered an apology again to her beloved Seviper before returning him to his Pokeball. She drew in a sharp breath through her teeth and rose to her feet, stepping back over to the group - not looking at any of them as she turned back to face the field. He'll get his comeuppance. One day. She insisted to herself.

(I didn't ) Jason laughed harder as Evie moved away from the battle field, returning to the band of losers and weaklings. He held out a pokeball and withdrew his Metagross before turning to the group and smiling darkly once more. " One a piece, who wants to try and take the lead?" He said running a hand through his slicked back hair, his arms still covered in dirt from the battle with Lorna.

"No, you keep it. You don't look like the kind of pirate to keep scarves and stuff. And scarves are really handy!"
Well duh, pirates don't keep scarves. Especially bright purple scarves, it's not the first thing the mind strikes up when someone says 'pirate'. He didn't want to upset Zeke anymore than he already has though. So with a quick "Thanks." and a curt smile, he shoved it into his deep pockets.
He watched as Evie's battle seemed to be evenly matched, until the end where that psychopath nearly killed her damn Seviper. Arthur snarled, there was no need to go that far. He liked Evie, even if she was a crap trainer. She wasn't a real threat to Jason, so he was just crushing her for his own entertainment. What a basket case. After the battle was over, he dreaded to think who would go next.
He could only hope it wasn't Zeke...

Zeke scowled slowly, stepping forward, watching Jason with each movement. "Okay," and that was all that needed to be said, really. His fist clenched by his side as Zeke sighed, being hit by the sheer... stupidity of the entire situation. Were all poachers like this? This really wasn't what he'd expected when they'd started on this journey.
He made sure to keep a weak smile on his face. If nothing else, might as well try and unnerve Jason. Besides, always good to smile! Makes you more positive and all that, good to be positive when going into battle against the type of person who is ready to rip you into shreds and enjoy it why Lugia why does this person exist oh this is going to be terrible smile Zeke smile. "I'll battle you." Might as well get it over with. He wanted Esme back - it wasn't right, a Pokeball without her in it.

"I'll battle you."
Oh for fucks sake.
Laughing nervously, Arthur skipped over to where Zeke was standing and put a hand on his shoulder. "Hey... buddy! Er, I don't think you want to do thaaaaat, y'know? Maybe it would be better to let the other people handle this, yeah? Right?" He was smiling nervously and acting like a weirdo, but he can't just let Zeke battle this guy! He was mental! He knew deep down that Zeke would probably still battle Jason, but that's not going to stop him trying.
"Right? Hehe..." He was shaking Zeke's shoulder slightly whilst giggling like an idiot. He quickly swallowed the lump in his throat and his forced smile dropped. "Please don't do this..."

Lorna felt bitter hatred well up in her as she watched Evie's and Jason's battle - the man was heartless. Quickly the older woman ran over to the young coorderinator, wrapping an arm protectively around her shoulders and guiding her back to the safety of the group. She didn't say a word, only rubbed small, soothing circle's on the girl's back.
"Shh, it'll be okay - everything will be okay," she said softly. "Ares will be alright and we'll get your pokemon back, I promise."

Seth was heartbroken when Evie did not defeat Jason, because he knew how much Evie loved her Vulpix- well, former Vulpix.
He stepped up. "If I may, Zeke, I have a proposition for this guy." The young ranger-to-be pulled out two Pokeballs.
"You took my Houndour and her Vulpix. Let's double battle. If I win, we get both of them back." He knew it was a risky move, and he couldn't lie, Jason was powerful.
But he couldn't just watch himself do nothing...

It was hard not to laugh, really, although Zeke wasn't sure if it was "haha this is so funny" laughter or "oh God save me from the madman" laughter, but Arthur's reassurances, well... they weren't helping.
"Please don't do this..."
"... Arthur... I can't not, right? I mean, I've gotta battle at some point, because Esme... she's mine, so I've gotta get her back. And besides! I'm sure, like, the good guys always win in this sort of thing." Now he could smile properly. This sort of thing always happened in comics, and eventually, the hero came out on top. Of course, those plots were always convoluted and yadda yadda but hey! Beginning, everything's fine, middle, oh no conflict! End, good guys do a happy dance or something, Zeke couldn't quite remember, but that's the general gist!
Zeke blinked upon being addressed, turning his head to watch Seth. He couldn't help a slight frown- he'd waited for this, and he wanted... he wanted Esme back. He wanted- It all became a mess in his mind that if he somehow won then Arthur would stop being silly and come back to the, not the "good side", maybe the good side? Just, come home, instead of away with this weird guy that had the strange tendency to hate what would be termed as "usual social etiquette", in that he was a raging lunatic. No, he needed this battle, didn't he?
"Seth... I know you're eager, and I mean, really, this is horrible, but you're not. Like." He waved his arms slightly. Ah, articulation, man's worst enemy. "You're rushing in, and you've seen what he's like. Rushing in is like the worst thing to do right now. Let me take this battle."
